Galleries, museums, photographers, artists, archivists, and decorators will appreciate this 4-Ply Conservation Mat Board (25-pack) from Archival Methods. Each 14 x 18" board is constructed with alpha-cellulose pulp from purified wood fiber. An economical alternative to cotton pulp boards, these boards share similar surface and cutting characteristics. Purified wood fiber is recognized as being safe to use with paper artwork, photographs, and documents. The boards are acid- and lignin-free with alkaline or neutral sizing archival use. Buffered with calcium carbonate for added protection and longer life, they have no optical brightening agents. The pearl white color is characterized by a warmer tonality than bright white museum board and is less yellow than antique white. Please note, this is for matboard only with no window openings.

Archival Methods Conservation Board

This mat board is more solid and dense than other conservation boards that I have used. It provides a stable and firm backing to cold mounted photographs (my application). It cuts nicely, and does not fry very much. I would recommend this board to others looking for an less expensive backing for photographs.
