Galleries, museums, photographers, artists, archivists, and decorators will appreciate this 4-Ply Conservation Mat Board (25-pack) from Archival Methods. Each 16 x 20" board is constructed with alpha-cellulose pulp from purified wood fiber. An economical alternative to cotton pulp boards, these boards share similar surface and cutting characteristics. Purified wood fiber is recognized as being safe to use with paper artwork, photographs, and documents. The boards are acid- and lignin-free with alkaline or neutral sizing archival use. Buffered with calcium carbonate for added protection and longer life, they have no optical brightening agents. The pearl white color is characterized by a warmer tonality than bright white museum board and is less yellow than antique white. Please note, this is for matboard only with no window openings.

Nice quality but not white
If this mat board was a pure white it would get 5 stars from me. Unfortunately it is not a bright white and a limited number of prints will play nicely with it . I print on cold press natural papers or sometimes ultra premium presentation matte which are not bright white papers, but this mat board is noticeably warmer than these warm white papers. (I always leave a generous margin of paper showing around my prints.) It is hard not to see how yellow the mat board is aside the paper. I can tolerate it with sunny, earthy landscapes, but cool, colorful prints just don't get along with it at all, which is a shame, it is nice quality. If you shoot a lot of sunny, earthy landscapes, or you aren't highly attuned to undertones and colors, you'll probably be happy with this mat board.
I will continue to purchase this product.
I am a photographer and have a constant need to mount my photographs archivally and economically. I have found the 4-Ply Pearl White Conservation Mat Board to fulfill all of my expectations. It is just enough off-white to be applicable to most photographs, it is archivally rated, it is sturdy and resistant to warping, and it cuts very evenly. I researched many other boards and many other retail sources and found that this board purchased from B&H (my go-to for all photographic needs) fulfills my needs exactly and costs less than other mat boards of similar quality.
