Whirlwind PODDI Overview

The podDI from Whirlwind is a single-output summing direct box that can be used to connect CD and MP3 players, computer sound card outputs, DJ mixers, etc. to professional equipment with balanced inputs such as a mixing console. The unit can also be used as a high-quality, single-input passive DI box.

The personal audio interface accepts a stereo input and sums it into a single, mono output. A variable attenuator on each input provides level matching between left and right inputs, allowing the podDI to also function as a passive mixer in split track audio applications. So for instance, a voice track and a music track can be balanced to the summed mono output.

Used to sum the stereo output of an Apple TV (Optical Audio to Analog converter > PodDI > to a Mono Mixer. The podDI works great the the Ground loop switch makes it crystal clear!

Will turning the gain/attenuator knob down all the way mute the output? Or will there still be a noticeable signal?
Asked by: Carl
From my experience, turning both knobs completely counterclockwise basically turns off the audio source. I can't remember any audio leaking through. This is a great little problem solver! The separate left and right channel knobs are really handy if you ever need to use a split track source where vocals may be on one side and music on the other side. My wife uses this all the time. She is an elementary music teacher. Also, the ground switch is handy for stopping buzzes and hum. Highly recommended.

question

connecting sound from computer through POD DI to go through sound system?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. That is exactly what the POD DI is designed for. You get use either the mini stereo jack input of the red and white RCA inputs. You can then connect the XLR output to any mic input available on stage and get clean audio without interference
