Its rubber-armored housing is O-ring sealed to keep out water and dust, and purged with nitrogen to prevent internal fogging no matter the conditions. Diamond knurling on the exterior provides a pleasant and secure grip, and the twist-up eyecup and 15mm eye relief make the monocular comfortable to use for people who wear eyeglasses. Vortex S825 reviews

8x25 Solo Monocular is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from fair Image quality is ok but the contrast and sharpness are lower than my Vixen 8x20. Its eyerelief is just enough for people who wear eyeglasses. The focus ring is very difficult to turn. It is very narrow and the surface rubber spines make it worse. Fortunately, the depth of view is quite large when viewing distant objects. So you don't need to refocus fequently. The eyeguard cannot be completely twisted down when focus on distant objects. This decreases the usable eyerelief. The close distance is about 3meters. For contruction, it looks and feels very sturdy in your hand. I feel very comfortable when holding the monocular. However, it is quite large and heavy. It comes along with a Soft Carry Case but without any lens cap. It doesn't matter as the lenses can be covered when putting inside the carrying case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Quality For The Price I'm pretty pleased with this monocular... waterproof, multi-coated optics, fog proof, nice ergonomics and a life time warranty for under $ $!Build quality is excellent, the optics are pretty bright, and the overall impression is that it is a quality instrument. The exit pupil is narrow due to the 25mm objective, but that's to be expected. I keep this in my carry bag just in case I need to view something far away. If you want a brighter image, and wider field of view, try to go for the 7X Vortex monocular. Overall, I'm satisfied and feel that I got a great deal on a quality optical instrument.Shipping was super fast and the pricing from B&H is usually on a par, if not cheaper, than the other on-line giants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maui monocular Purchased just prior to a 18 day Maui trip. Easy to operate and holds up well in the sand. This was and will be the one I carry when I get back to home and work. I work for the utility company in California as a first responder and use it to verify a equipment is in good order. For the price you can't beat this monocular!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value, Very Good Optics I own several pairs of binoculars and monoculars, and look for the right combination of size and weight with very good optics for my applications. This one fit perfectly at a very reasonable price. Optics are sharp over most of the viewing area, with excellent eye relief - as a person who wears glasses, I always look for that. As points of reference, the optics are comparable to my Nikon Eagleview 8-24 x 25 zoom binoculars set at 8x. They are not as good - nor should they be expected to be- as Nikon Monarch 5's , which are 8 x 42 and far more expensive with much larger objectives. But the bottom line is that this Vortex delivers clean sharp views in a reasonably small and lightweight monocular. Also the carrying case in current versions has been improved over the old ones (based on reviews that I read), and now has closed sides and is of good quality. Once again B&H delivery was quick and sure. Overall this was a great purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solo 8x25 Monocular by Vortex I am very pleased with the Solo 8x25 Monocular by Vortex. It is a 8x power that is very handholdable without jitter in the viewfinder. I wish it had a zoom feature but I didn't see that feature when I was in the market to purchase a monocular. Perhaps way more expensive units have a zoom but then may be too big for in the pocket storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy See Far Glass The monocular is handy to have. It has a very clear view and is light weight and easy to access quickly. Take it with you indoors and out. I own other Vortex optics and I believe their value is second to none. Get one, you'll like it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from what you'd expect from Vortex Lighweight, sharp image, solid feel. Had to remove 1 star for the case but over all would recommend this to a friend in a heartbeat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, rugged, clear optic I have a hard time with binoculars due to an eye problem, so having a monocular that is a quality piece of gear is great. In the PNW fogging and water damage is a bit problem, but I have had no issues with the Vortex solo. It is a tough little bugger. Tough enough I let my kids use it without worry. It is compact and light and works well in low light.
