With powerful magnification, multi-coated glass, and a housing designed to withstand the elements, the 8x25 Solo Monocular from Vortex is suited to birding, hiking, hunting, travel, sightseeing, concerts, sports, theater – anywhere you want a good look at distant details. Its 8x magnification delivers a steady image, and the close-focus distance of just 16.4 makes the Solo a versatile optic, able to observe objects nearby as well as far away. Its rubber-armored housing is O-ring sealed to keep out water and dust, and purged with nitrogen to prevent internal fogging no matter the conditions. Diamond knurling on the exterior provides a pleasant and secure grip, and the twist-up eyecup and 15mm eye relief make the monocular comfortable to use for people who wear eyeglasses. And at 4.4 x 2.2" and less than 6 ounces, it's easy to pack in a pocket, purse, bag, or glove box.

8x25 Solo Monocular is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from fair Image quality is ok but the contrast and sharpness are lower than my Vixen 8x20. Its eyerelief is just enough for people who wear eyeglasses. The focus ring is very difficult to turn. It is very narrow and the surface rubber spines make it worse. Fortunately, the depth of view is quite large when viewing distant objects. So you don't need to refocus fequently. The eyeguard cannot be completely twisted down when focus on distant objects. This decreases the usable eyerelief. The close distance is about 3meters. For contruction, it looks and feels very sturdy in your hand. I feel very comfortable when holding the monocular. However, it is quite large and heavy. It comes along with a Soft Carry Case but without any lens cap. It doesn't matter as the lenses can be covered when putting inside the carrying case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Quality For The Price I'm pretty pleased with this monocular... waterproof, multi-coated optics, fog proof, nice ergonomics and a life time warranty for under $ $!Build quality is excellent, the optics are pretty bright, and the overall impression is that it is a quality instrument. The exit pupil is narrow due to the 25mm objective, but that's to be expected. I keep this in my carry bag just in case I need to view something far away. If you want a brighter image, and wider field of view, try to go for the 7X Vortex monocular. Overall, I'm satisfied and feel that I got a great deal on a quality optical instrument.Shipping was super fast and the pricing from B&H is usually on a par, if not cheaper, than the other on-line giants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maui monocular Purchased just prior to a 18 day Maui trip. Easy to operate and holds up well in the sand. This was and will be the one I carry when I get back to home and work. I work for the utility company in California as a first responder and use it to verify a equipment is in good order. For the price you can't beat this monocular!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from what you'd expect from Vortex Lighweight, sharp image, solid feel. Had to remove 1 star for the case but over all would recommend this to a friend in a heartbeat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solo 8x25 Monocular by Vortex I am very pleased with the Solo 8x25 Monocular by Vortex. It is a 8x power that is very handholdable without jitter in the viewfinder. I wish it had a zoom feature but I didn't see that feature when I was in the market to purchase a monocular. Perhaps way more expensive units have a zoom but then may be too big for in the pocket storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product Use the Solo 8x25 Monocular on hikes, at the ocean and lakes, for my upcoming Afican safari, and just recreational use. Tried other monoculars and they were hard to use. They were stiff and difficult to get focused because of a stiff slide or turning focus. This is small, light weight, easy to use, and very economical.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy & Quick I keep this monocular in my truck so I always have an optic handy for quick use. I've taken it hunting, hiking, and even used it in a recent family trip to Disneyland, where a few other dads commented to me that they wish they had one! It is bright and easy to quickly find and focus on your subject. Being kept in my truck, I use it to see traffic conditions up the road (while I'm not moving, of course) and other uses not related to hunting or field usage.
