Hot Shoe Adapter 3/8" to 1/4" is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forget the others I own several of these after buying the others which are less expensive. We only use the Matthews now after being let down by the others. It weighs more but it's a far better product. Trust this with your precious on-cam accessories. The wheels are larger and made of metal. The wheels actually stick flat on surfaces not angled like the cheap plastic ones. After tightening you might have to plier them off but a small price to pay for security. Too many close calls with the other cheap ones! Don't be fooled by the other one's photos. When you receive them they are tiny, small wheels that you can't grip, plastic components, + there's too much play when turning the wheels and loosen up quickly. Trust the Matthews and stop worrying about your Atomos hitting the concrete!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hot hot shoe adapter Hi all, We use this adapter to fix a Convergent Design Nano flash to the top of our Sony Ex3. We chose this adapter because we needed a sturdy, non-articulating base for the nano-flash. This camera sits on a SteadiCam Pilot and the least number of things that can get pumped the better. I am very happy with how rigidly this unit holds the Nano Flash. The locking wheels are large and easy to use, and the machining quality is excellent. As for negatives, the unit is a bit heavy, but I think it is needs to have a bit of weight to maintain it's quality; so not really a ding. Buy one and you'll like it. Thanks, BH

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Many hotshoe adapters are cheap and can be wobbly. Not this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't mess around, get this one first Compared to another similar item that cost about $ less, there is no comparison. I had to do the final finishing of the other plates that fit into the hot shoe. Not on this one. The knurls are substantial, and wide. I will use it to mount a small audio PCM recorder on a bracket. Worth the money which is small change in the grand scheme of these things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful for Attaching Zoom H5 (with Shotgun Mic) to Canon 60D I've had two different hot shoe adapters that cost $ and $ apiece. This hot shoe adapter is larger in length and the wheels are wider in diameter than my two previous ones which provides great stability for my digital recorder. Not to mention, since my older hot shoe adapters were shorter in length, when I had attached my Zoom with the SSH-6 stereo shotgun mic attached, covered with my Movo Professional Windscreen, to my Canon 60D, the hairs from the windscreen would be in the frame. In an effort to mount my digital recorder even higher, as to not get the windscreen into the frame, I'd screw in my old hot shoe adapter slightly and then tighten the wheel. This would only make my recorder wobble around and still get the hairs into frame. Overall, the Matthews shoe adapter is well worth the price since it resolves this problem. I have no issues with wobbling and with the wheels becoming untightened. It's perfect for my set-up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for... I own a Sony PCMD50 that has absolutely wonderful sound capture abilities. I also have the Sony HDR-AX2000 camera that has wonderful video, but not great audio (bottom end is lacking more than anything). This hot shoe adapter works perfectly to mount the PCMD50 to the hot shoe of the camera. Seems VERY sturdy and well built. I leave it on there if nothing is attached just to keep the metal in the hot shoe from rattling while I'm moving around. Only problem (not the hot shoes fault) is that having the PCM recorder mounted makes it impossible to move the small LCD from open to closed or vice-verse. If it was a little taller, what wouldn't be a problem. But for the money, I'm completely satisfied!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simplest solution I bought this adapter because I have a couple of Zoom HV1 recorders which only mount to a tripod mount and I want to put them on top of the camera. This little item does the job quite nicely. I like the fact that it is metal rather than plastic. The thumb screws can clamp down tightly on the hot shoe and there is no wobble.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Misleading Description The product description is misleading. It is nothing to do with 3/8 adapter. It's just a 'cold' hot shoe adapter to 1/4. It is made entirely of aluminium. The 2 thumb wheels are for securing to a hot shoe at the bottom and 1/4 tripod hole at the top. The thumb wheels avoid accessories become wobbly when attached. The function of this item is to avoid wear and tear to your plastic hot shoe accessories e.g. off-cam cable or to use an accessories only with tripod mount but without a hot shoe e.g. mic. Functions as intended.
