Tiffen 67PTP overview

  • 1Description

The Tiffen 67mm Photo Twin Pack consists of a UV Protection filter and Circular Polarizer.

UV Protection Filters
UVHaze (UV) filters are wise initial investments. They help protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. If desired they can be left on the lens at all times for protection. Haze filters provide additional benefits of correction for Ultraviolet (UV) light which can register on film and videotape as a bluish cast and can obscure distant details. Ultraviolet filters allow you to correct for the UV effect to varying degrees. Haze-1 filters absorb approximately 71 percent of UV.

Circular Polarizers
Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

Note: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems)

    Tiffen 67PTP reviews

67mm Photo Twin Pack (UV Protection and Circular Polarizing Filter) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 58.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good deal Tiffen makes high quality filters and the UV/CP twin pack is an excellent value. From a business perspective, I appreciate Tiffen's balance between keeping quality high in the filter and keeping costs low by providing only 1 soft case. (After all, you keep the UV on the lense & the CP in your backpack for when you need it, right?) However, it leaves the UV filter vulnerable (wrapped in tissue paper, outside the softcase, but in the box) during shipping. Mine arrived in immaculate condition, so it wasn't an issue. But I did hold my breath as I unpacked it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleased with Product I always purchase UV filters to keep on my lenses for protection. I also like to use a circular polarizer for bright sunny days and when taking pictures with water in the photos. I purchased the 67mm Photo Twin Pack with my new Canon 70-200mm f4L IS USM lens. I've used both filters and I'm very pleased with both.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I am a reluctant convert There's a huge debate about to use UV filters or not to use UV filters. I'm in the use them camp, but didn't want to spend the money for a high quality filter so I tried to get away with cheaper filters on my expensive lenses. I was out shooting this week and noticed heavy sun flares in my shots. I remember a debate about if these cause flares or not, so I removed the UV filter and took the same picture again, at the same angle. Sure enough, much reduced sun flares. In these shots, it really wouldn't have been a big deal because I could PS them out, but in an outdoor portrait, the sun flare could have been on a client's face. Not a deal breaker if you're not selling your shots to someone and, to be fair, I was shooting straight up in the sky so ANY lens would have gotten flares shooting almost at the sun. My point is that the UV filter made the flares worse than they were with the naked lens (see photos below). You can't stop sun flares, but I don't want to pay extra money to make them worse. So I'll be returning this one and ponying up some more money for a better filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid and affordable Used with our new Canon 7D, this is a very affordable combo pack made by the leader in filter technology, Tiffen. Circular Pola is a great, inexpensive way to improve sky shots and landscapes---and can also save your life with reflections in some cases (car windshields for instance) You can pay more, but the performance won't improve.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So thankful for the uv filter! Straightaway after I put the filter on my camera my nephew dropped my camera on accident. Luckily only the uv filter cracked and saved my lens! Still experiementing with the polarizing one. It's not as great on gray days as I had hoped...but I'm hoping my Australian holliday will be fulled with more sunny days than gray!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Here's the skinny on this filter It does what it is supposed to do very nicely. Only knock is that the metal edge of the filter is very skinny and it can be difficult to remove from your lens. My older one was wider and thus easier to work with. Other than that it is fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value! Package consists of a UV and circular polariser filter, the 2 most important filters. Does what its supposed to do. Build quality is great. Also included is a handy pouch for when the polariser is not needed.
