Celestron 93422 overview

  • 1Description

Celestron's X-Cel LX 7mm Eyepiece is designed for comfortable near and deep-space astronomical observation. It is built with a 6-element lens configuration, blackened edges, and anti-reflective fully multi-coated optical surfaces to ensure bright and clear high-contrast images with true color transmission across the entire wide 60° field of view. Celestron engineered the X-Cel LX series of eyepieces with a long 16mm eye relief that brings the user's face back from the scope to minimize vibrations caused by contact with the eyepiece. All eyepieces in the series are completely parfocal, making switching eyepieces convenient by not requiring re-focusing. With a 1.25" diameter barrel, it will fit the most common size drawtubes, visual backs, and accessories; and a rubberized collar provides a non-slip grip especially in cold weather and when wearing gloves. The housing is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy with a reflection-limiting matte anodized finish, and a retractable eyecup that extends with a simple twist for comfortable use with or without eyewear.

    Celestron 93422 reviews

    X-Cel LX 7mm Eyepiece (1.25") is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Celestron XCel LX 7mm I've since been satisfactorily using the stock eyepieces that came with my refractor telescope. They give clear terrestrial and night-sky views. Then I decided to purchase the Celestron 7mm eyepiece based on its good reviews. Amazing! The views are much clearer, sharper, with better color and contrast, and wider field of view. I don't know why this eyepiece gives better color than is visible with the eye. This 7mm will be my all-around planetary eyepiece from now on. The moon craters have more crispier details. The eyepiece body is not plastic but metal and is built to last. There is no manufacturing dirt through the 6 piece lens elements. The lens is very clear! Nice job Celestron! And as always, B&H is a reliable online store. My eyepiece arrived in a well protected package. I will get next the 18mm in the XCel LX series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent in every aspect The Celestron X-Cel LX 7mm Eyepieces is one of the finest I've used. The build is solid but not too heavy. it's a larger eyepiece, but still does not overwhelm the scope or focuser. And the threaded eye-guard is adjustable to any level that's comfortable. Optically, its a WOW. The 60 degree field is just right in my opinion. Images are sharp, center to edge and there is not a hint of stray light. This evening I used it on the moon. The contrast was superb and the resolution brought out details I can't recall seeing with my 6 f/8 DOB. I focused on a very tiny craterlet in the center of the field. As it drifted to the edge, the shape, sharpness and focus did not change one tiny bit. I was really amazed. If the other eyepieces in this set are as good, I'll eventually get them all. It's a premium eyepiece at a very reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW, excellent Ep for the money I have a Skywatcher Virtuoso 90mm Mak scope.( 1250mm f13.9 ) The included 25mm EP ( 50x ) is very good and the 10mm is fine but has way too short of an eye relief. This 7mm is 178X on my scope and the viewing is incredible. I can see incredible detail of the moon and my eye can be 15+ mm away from the EP. I get a larger FOV than the kits 25mm and better contrast and only slightly less bright. I also got the 12mm X-Cel and it is a joy to use as well. They raised the price of the 5mm but I plan to get that as well if the price drops back to 59 where it was a couple weeks ago when it was out of stock. My Mak is rated for max 180x but this EP seemed to appear perfect on a good night so I think 250x with the 5mm is doable on a clear night in South Carolina, USA. Compared to any kit EP these are great, compared to 200 dollar high end EP's they are probably worse but not by much from what I have read. The focal plane seems very flat and I don't see any loss of sharpness at the edges like some. That may be because my scope is 1250mm and apparently shorter focal lengths and fast f-stop scopes ( <750mm, <f10 )_ are more likely to have distortion at the edges. If you have a 3 or above good quality scope, get it, it will impress you. My 3.5 mak looks great with it at the moon. I hope to see Saturn and Jupiter soon when the clouds go away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent eyepiece - nice contrast and sharp image I've used this eyepiece during three viewing sessions with my Celestron C6 sct with evolution mount. This is a well designed, sharp and smooth eyepiece. On my 1500mm focal length F/10 scope this gives about 214 power. The detail and clarity of the 3/4 waxing moon was impressive with nice contrast and sharp edge to edge detail. The real treat was an unexpected clear view of Jupiter and four moons. Two cloud bands had a nice level of detail and the four moons were perfectly round and sharply defined spheres. I changed to a 6mm Plossl for comparison, and the X-Cel provided a significantly better overall image and much easier eye placement. I also compared it to an 8-24mm Celestron Deluxe zoom eyepiece and the X-Cel LX was significantly better for this view of Jupiter. Eye relief is very good and it is quite comfortable to view with. The retractable rubberized eyecup operates smoothly. The 60 degree field of view is just right to see the entire image, and it has a noticeably wider view than a similar power Plossl. The rubberized body is nice to handle on a cold night. It came packaged with a protective round plastic case for storage. I'm very pleased with this X-Cell LX 7mm eyepiece. If you are looking for a quality eyepiece this is an excellent choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best deal for the price I use this for high power viewing in a 5 f5. It is easier to view through than a Plossl and has better sharpness and contrast. I was so impressed that I bought the 12 mm also. A real plus is that these eyepieces seem to correct the coma in my fast Newtonian while being just a bit more expensive than a Plossl. A high end eyepiece at a great price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome After you get good a viewing with larger mm eyepieces you will want to move to a higher magnification. This is a great eyepiece. Well built and good quality. Enhances the view of whatever you're looking at. I will be grabbing a few more with my Christmas funds!!! Worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent optics, good price Great quality viewing, good FOV, very pleased with this. Excellent cost to performance ratio. Very durable feeling. Rubber grip is nice touch for feeling it in the dark and just makes it feel better constructed. Much superior to standard Plossl.
