Celestron 93420 overview

  • 1Description

Celestron's X-Cel LX 2.3mm Eyepiece is designed for comfortable near and deep-space astronomical observation. It is built with a 6-element lens configuration, blackened edges, and anti-reflective fully multi-coated optical surfaces to ensure bright and clear high-contrast images with true color transmission across the entire wide 60° field of view. Celestron engineered the X-Cel LX series of eyepieces with a long 16mm eye relief that brings the user's face back from the scope to minimize vibrations caused by contact with the eyepiece. All eyepieces in the series are completely parfocal, making switching eyepieces convenient by not requiring re-focusing. With a 1.25" diameter barrel, it will fit the most common size drawtubes, visual backs, and accessories; and a rubberized collar provides a non-slip grip especially in cold weather and when wearing gloves. The housing is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy with a reflection-limiting matte anodized finish, and a retractable eyecup that extends with a simple twist for comfortable use with or without eyewear.

    Celestron 93420 reviews

    X-Cel LX 2.3mm Eyepiece (1.25") is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Celestron x-cel lx 2.3mm This is a very powerful eyepiece. It is amazing how things come very close to view. The point of clearest-focus is however very narrow on your focuser, as thin as hair. This is not your all-around eyepiece because of its relatively high-light requirement. There will be a little dimming because of the very high magnification but view is clear. Be aware though of your telescope's magnification limit. This is not a pin-hole viewing eyepiece because of the wide FOV. I am happy with this eyepiece. Very fast service from B&H. The eyepiece came in a very well protected package.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NICE OPTICS Great eyepiece, best used on scopes 6 inches and larger. I have a celestron 6se and it works well but 2.3 mm is pushing the limits of that size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition for detail in the outer solar system & beyond I picked this up for viewing detail on the planets. I was able to see incredible detail with my Polaris 80 Refactor. Views were breathtaking and I was certainly not let down. (Don't forget your planetary filters) I wouldn't recommend this eyepiece for new comers with little experience on a basic scope. Not because of the quality; but with a basic scope not only is it difficult to focus properly, the planets will literally fly out of view fast. This eyepiece would be much more at home on a scope with a motorized tracker, maybe even on a scope with motorized focus. I Imagine that you can get some great details on far away objects with a higher power reflector scope. It is very well made and the optics are far superior to that of any lesser eyepiece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Eyepiece Care must be taken focusing this as it is very touchy, I use an electric focuser and have no problem, but it can only be used with periods of exceptional seeing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Celestron x-cel lx 2.3mm A very powerful eyepiece! You definitely do not need a barlow lens with this eyepiece. It is amazing how objects come very close to view and they are clear and sharp. Its FOV is surprisingly wide for a powerful eyepiece, not looking through a pin-hole. This is a relatively heavy and long eyepiece. Its point of clearest-focus on the focuser is very narrow, but once you get it in focus, it is clear. There will be a little, but acceptable dimming, because of the very high magnification. Be aware though that you do not exceed your telescope's magnification limit. The body is alluminum, not plastic. This eyepiece will last for a vey long time. Optics are clear and sharp. I will get more from this line of X-CEL eyepieces. I am very happy with this eyepiece. Very fast service from B&H. The eyepiece arrived in a very well protected package.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great eye relief but limited use Great eye relief, wide field, and I mainly bought it to have the complete set of X-Cel units. Would be useful with high quality short focal ratio optics and I may so use it from time to time. Gone are the days when you had to press your eyeball to the eye lens to get a full field of view. Still to perform wide field with good eye relief, the resulting unit is physically the longest of the whole X-Cel range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, but over extends the Celestron EdgeHD 8 Very nice optics, but with a 2m SCT, this yields 860X mag, which is beyond the recommended usable mag on my scope. Still, I do get some views, but prefer to use a lower mag eyepiece for most viewing on my Celestron EdgeHD 8 SCT. Better high mag views with an 8mm, or 5mm on this scope. Most planetary viewing is acceptable with anything from a 40mm to a 10mm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Was a bit blurry still when fully focused using with NexStar 5SE (viewing Jupiter) but using with Evolution 9.25, wow!
