    Nikon EP-5B reviews

EP-5B Power Supply Connector for Select Nikon Cameras is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used For The D800 - I'm giving the device full marks as it does what it is stated it will do, but I must admit that it IS annoying that a $3,000 D800 camera needs an extra adapter simply to run on A/C power like my older $2,400 D700 does natively...That aside, I guess that I should be happy that the same the EH-5b (100V) A/C adapter that I use for my D700 and D300s works in combination with this connector so I don't have to buy a new version of the EH-5b adapter as well. All of this adds-up to more stuff to carry on remote jobs as well as more cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pricey, But Great for Studio Use I would have rated this thing 5 Stars, but the complete price after purchasing the additional Nikon EP-5B Power Supply Connector is too high. (when you feel the overall construction you will see what I mean). That being said, it is now an indispensable part of my studio arsenal. I can keep my batteries charged for outdoor and location use. I no longer have to worry about running out of power when I'm shooting video. If you spend most of your time shooting indoors, consider this option to buying spare base batteries or grips and more expensive batteries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EP-5B I use it for my D750, which replaces the EN-EL15 battery. The camera body has a little built-in door by the battery door that pulls out. Once this little door is open, the cord for the power connector goes thru it. Then the battery door on the camera can shut flush in its normal fashion. I already have the EH-5B for another camera. This adapter plugs right into it. I would highly suggest purchasing quality parts when it comes to anything electrical or charging equipment. It looks silly, but works. I'd rather have it plug straight into the camera, but...you know.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The other guy must not know his D7000. Yes it's weird that a bunch of lesser nikon DSLRs have a port for the EH-5A adapter and the D7000 doesn't. So instead you have to pay $ for this thingy, whatever.About the battery door not closing...If you look closely there is a little rubber plug so you can route the EP-5Bs cable under the door and close the battery compartment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stop me if you've heard this one It works well. It's very existence is the problem. The need for this adapter is just ODD. If the lowly D90 could have a direct plug in from the AC adapter, then why can't the D7000? (Apparently this nonsense wasn't corrected with the release of the 7100 either.) A fly in the ointment for an otherwise likable ownership experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works on D800/D800E You should be able to use AC power by plugging the power supply into the camera directly like the D700. Alas, the D800/800E do not provide that capability. With this device you have to remove the battery. Having said that, this adapter does provide a solid connection that can't be accidently dislodged. The cost($), however, is way out of line. Reduced the rating because of cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expensive but it works I purchased the EP-5B because I wanted to be able to power the D810 I recently bought with the my EH5a power supply I kept after I sold my D700. Being able to power the camera with AC is great for cleaning your sensor, doing indoor photography like tethered macro shooting, or for doing interval timer shooting, as you always have constant power. The connector is small and easily attaches to the EH5A and the D810. It works perfectly. Yet when you look at how simple this connector is you can't help buy feel that Nikon is gouging you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it's supposed to. It seems silly to need to spend $ to get a connector that really should have been there from the beginning, but if you do any sort of time lapse, video, etc. then the usefulness of this is obvious. Regarding the battery door cover, if you look on the front of the camera, around the grip of the right hand, there is a little rubber flap that opens up to allow the cable out of. Then you can close the battery door. See pg. 282 of your D7000 manual for more info.
