LensCoat LegCoat Reviews

Good Quality But Costs A Lot For What It Gives

I ordered one of these hoping that its price was for a set of three. When it arrived I discovered that I would need to order two more to complete the set. While this wrap pads my tripod for carrying it over my shoulder and insulates it in cold or very hot weather, making it more comfortable to handle, the price seems excessive. (I have purchased larger diameter fabric covered neoprene tubes decorated with a design for much less than three of these cost.

Great product

Haven't had them for very long, but so far they have worked as advertised.... I like the fact that they grip the tripod legs with no sliding or twisting.... Only small complaint is I think they need a bit more padding....

Worth the money

These things really save your shoulder when carrying a large lens and tripod all day. I would recommend then again and again.

Good Fit

Product is well made and a good fit on my Gitzo Systematic. The cushioning is especially nice when carrying the tripod/camera/lens combo to shoot landscapes. Haven't used the setup in the cold yet but I expect it to be a welcome addition as an insulating agent. Deducted a star because of the price.

Could and must be improved

Overall the product is great. Looks great on my Induro git303 tripod, it is nicely padded, grips firmly and the hook/loop attachment works well. But... in my opinion there's a chance for extra improvement. For example the diameter of tubes in my tripod is too wide for the smaller size but is on the lower end for 310 (suggested size). Because of this, when I close the padding, most of the loop attachment remain inside of the wrapped pad and most of the hook attachment remain free on the outer side. The attachment is incomplete and it's more easier to accidentally open the closure or ruin clothings with the free hooks. That could be easily fixed by adding an extended portion of loop attachment, just about one finger more. With tripods with bigger tubes the extra part will be hidden anyway on the back, for smaller tubes this will help to have a proper full-width hook/loop binding.

I use these on a Gitzo 3533S. Works as advertised. They don't slide around and the Velcro is super strong.

Purchased these for my Pro Media Gear TR344 tripod. They fit perfectly and form a very secure fit around the tripod legs.

Great tight fight, but...

They are much shorter than expected on my series three Gitzo GT3543LS. Once i put them on, a bit disappointed there was nearly 2.5 inches of uncovered top leg. Whether this is normal or not i don't know, if so i wish it could be mentioned in product description. Glad i got them on sale, and i am sure they will last like all LensCoat products.

While these are not necessarily made for a monopod, the right set would depend on the tube diameter of your particular monopod.

question

Is this LegCoat compatible to my Gitzo GT3543LS Systematic Series 3 Tripod?
Asked by: Rajendra
I dont think so; youll eed a larger size. My set is snug, but properly fits a Gitzo series 1 travel tripod. Suggest you look at spec for diameter of largest leg of your series 3 Gitzo and buy coat that covers that diameter. Also, make sure length of coat does not exceed length of fattest tripod leg. These covers work well, but they are outrageously high priced. When I saw the small, flat package they came in and thought of what I paid, I was very offended. Had I known, I probably would not have bought them. I blame the manufacturer and the apparent lack of competition, not B&H.
