Balanced Audio Professional Grade XLR A/B Passive Switch is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from intensely loud switch! I use this in a PA situation, routing a choice of 2 balanced line musical instruments into a given channel. It seems to do the job well, and is a tool hard to find elsewhere. The only problem I have with it is that the passive switch makes a very loud POP when switching. I have to remember to mute the channel the I am going into before switching between A & B, or else the pop is ear-splitting, and probably speaker-damaging. Sescom does make a foot-pedal version of this box for a higher price. I didn't really need a foot operated switch for my needs. I wonder if it is any quieter? As it is, I have marked my box with a note: MUTE BEFORE SWITCHING to remind me to save the audience's ear drums!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good way to go for A/Bing headphones I've been searching for a little box that would let me connect 2 headphones and switch between them without having the plug / unplug again and again. This unit does it, just perfectly. You connect two headphones and a source, and switch between them with the little thing, very simple. The unit is completely passive. Means it does not require mains connection, does not add anything to the signal, and also don't get hot at all. Needless to say, you can either switch between 2 headphones (speakers, whatever else), or between 2 sources. Interchangeable route. The switch is smooth and doesn't make any noise (e.g. when you have the headphones on, the volume up, and start your session with just a switch - the music simply starts without any cracking noise at the beginning). I couldn't notice any decrease in sound quality, I doubt there is any, (I guess except those differences in signal you could only measure, but never hear). I'm very satisfied with its build quality: Hard plastic box with Neutrik jacks. The only minus for me is these jacks, as they're XLRs. Sescom doesn't have a balanced (2 channel, stereo) A/B switchbox. (They do have one that gets a balanced signal and switches between its channels as output.) So I had to get adapters to connect the headphones to. Got two generic / Hosa Technology ones - don't go any further, they're great for this, tight connection on both ends and nicely built. For this I'm giving it a 4/5. Although, other than that, it just sits there near my amplifier and lets me choose which headphone set to use, at one switch. This is just great. Recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Usless balance control This will most likely work for most users and situations that it was intended for. I did not work for me. I needed something that could balance between two microphones like the balance control on an amplifier or headphones. There is very little noticeable difference between full left and full right. So if you're looking for something that will have a noticeable difference in level, this will not do that. If you don't care and just want to add another mic or split an xlr output this will work.
