The Sescom Balanced Audio Professional Grade XLR A/B Passive Switch is designed to convert and switch between 2 inputs to 1 common output. It uses high quality locking XLR connectors, and functions as an input and output expander. The full duplex switch does not require power for operation, and is used to avoid wear and tear of connectors via constant plugging and unplugging. It is ideal for home theaters, studios, or devices that normally require plugging / unplugging.

Sescom SES-XLR Reviews
Great answer to my problem
I use this switch during church service to direct the audio feed to my video camera. I'm getting the sound from two sources, shotgun mic and a sound system. Works very well. Would buy another if needed.
works - but needs a true mute for footswitch
This works for using two mics into an amp, pa, or recording interface, saving on the time it takes to unplug and replug different mics - with one major problem: using either the footswitch or the mute results in a loud system clipping noise - the same as if you pulled a mic xlr input out of a powered on amp. To use the footswitch for either performing or recording in switchin mics, you still have to first turn the volume all the way off on the amp, interface, or pa. So in reality. it only spares the tasks of plugging and unplugging mics, and simply does not functionally allow the easy footswitching between mics while performing or recording without loud, annoying, audio repercussions. Ideally, send this back to the tech engineers, and develop a footswitch that changes mics silently, please! Meanwhile, we still use this - careful always to turn the volumes down or the unit off before switching.
