Does the height of this include the thickness of the convoluted foam lid or is it just the height of the divider? Thanks!
It is just the height of the divider. This is a kit for the Pelican 1520 Series Cases and fits perfectly. On other cases the fit is not guaranteed.

Does anyone use this with a laptop below? I am wanting to have my macbook below and then my camera gear on top. If you do what sort of laptop do you store below? Thanks in advance
Maybe in a soft case, but not in a. Hard case. If you put your laptop under the bottom layer in a hard case like mine, you would have no protection between the computer and the bottom of the case. Also, you might find it tedious to access your computer because you would have to remove all your camera gear to get to it. The inserts aren't necessarily made to slide in and out of the case easily after install. They are designed to hold their position.
