This fit very well into the Remington 597 default receiver. Simply unscrew the 3 existing screws and use the provided screws to mount it. The picture shows 4 slots, but only 3 screws are used and needed. The weaver amount covers about 80 - 90% of the existing Dovetail mount. Not a huge issue, but something to note. Overall, happy with purchase. Finally, Weaver amount is compatible with a lot of Pictatinny accessories, but not all of them. I had a Red Dot for Picatinny that was able to be mounted. However, the Red Dot had a Picatinny multislot riser that I couldn't use on this Weaver Mount, due to the differences in the width and spacing of the slots. I guess Single slot accessories are more cross compatible than others.
Allows for a much more secure mounting of optics. The original grooves in the receiver didn't allow for much purchase of the claws. This rail uses conventional rings for very secure mounting. And it came with the screws!!!
