Heavier than I expected. Made well and should do the job for many years to come.

Does what it should. I use it to mount 1/4 threaded LED lights to my pro-style light stands. Good quality and affordable.

One of my Impact background stands took a fall and snapped off the long stud along with the fixed treaded bolt portion. I live chatted with a service rep from B&H and he advised me how to repair with these two parts... problem solved!

How long is the screw on top *without* the nut? (I don't plan to use it.)
It is about 5/8" long not counting the nut.

question
Is the knob metal or plastic?
Plastic. But everything else is metal. Never had a problem with it.

question
Can the 1/4-20 stud be removed? Is there a set screw holding it in place or have they used Lock-tight? I'd like to remove it and use a carriage bolt through a yoke into this adapter's 1/4-20 threads. Thanks!
Hi, sorry. It looks that the stud is fixed.

question
Is the silver nut pictured on the 1/4 20 stem removable? And is the top of the adapter fully flat underneath that? I'm looking to mount it under a slider. Thanks!
I don't have this anymore, but I recall the nut being removable and the top, flat;however, the knob might be to big and in its rotation may extend past the flat top- so if flush underneath a slider, the knob may be blocked- again I'm not 100% sure.
