Vello ShutterBoss II Overview

The ShutterBoss II Timer Remote Switch for Cameras with a Canon Sub Mini Connector from Vello is a remote shutter release that provides photographers with enhanced levels of exposure control. Featuring specialized functionality such as continuous shooting, self-timer, long time exposures, and interval shooting, the ShutterBoss II is a huge asset to keep in your camera bag. This ShutterBoss is compatible with cameras that have a sub-mini connection, including Canon EOS Digital Rebels and EOS R6, R, M6, G3 X, G5 X, select FUJIFILM models, Contax N and 645, Olympus and OM System, Pentax K series, Sigma SD, and Samsung GX series.

With the ShutterBoss you can set timer delays, exposure times, and intervals up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds in one-second increments. You can also select from 1 to 399 continuous shots or set the device to take an unlimited number of photos. Since you can set exposures without touching the camera you will capture clear, blur-free images. This remote has a 4-line backlit LCD status display for easy viewing of timer and exposure settings.

The ShutterBoss is great for time-lapse series of blooming flowers, sunsets, or the night sky. It can also function as a simple manual remote shutter release. Simply establish the camera's settings and push the remote's shutter button halfway to focus and fully to shoot. In bulb mode, slide the shutter release button forward to lock and the shutter will stay open until you release it.

The ShutterBoss II has added two features that will offer easier control over the remote's settings. First is a power off option which gives you the ability to power down the remote to conserve battery life. Second is a reset option that allows the ShutterBoss settings to be reset to default settings with just the hold of two buttons. A default reset is a time-saver when you want to avoid changing each setting individually.

Whether it's for simple shutter release, extended self-timer options, continuous shooting, long exposures, or time-lapse shooting, the ShutterBoss II Remote puts creative camera control in the palm of your hand.

Will this work with the Canon EOS R5 and R6? Thanks!
Asked by: Pascal
The external control port is not listed on Canon’s website for the R5, so my guess is no. If you can confirm that the port exists, than I am positive it would work. I bought it for my Canon T7i, but it also works with my Fuji XT3.

I want to record a series of back-to-back bulb exposures with *very* little time between exposures -- essentially continuous shooting. Specifically... Can I set the Vello device to 20-sec exposures and 20-sec intervals? ...or must I add a between-shot time delay? (e.g., 19-sec exposures and 20-sec intervals).

question

Hello everyone!I would like to experiment with time lapse using my new Canon PowerShot SX60 HS, but I don't know if this device can be used with my camera. The list of compatible cameras shows the Canon SX50 HS, which is the previous model for this PowerShot line.Does anyone know if I can use this device with my camera? Thank you!
Asked by: Ignacio
Yes, you will be able to use it. With canon, the issue with release cables is once you get up to full frame systems, the connection changes. So I'd say it's a wise investment, you can mess around with it now. In the event you move to a new camera like the 60D 70D, you will still be able to use this intervalometer. I have 2 of them for my 60D and 6D, and I love them.
