The New EN-EL18a battery is compatible with the MB-D12 battery grip with the BL-5 battery chamber cover, yes. Nikon doesnt list battery life with the new EN-EL18a, but with the older EN-EL18 they estimate 1,400 shots by CIPA standards. With the EN-EL15 they estimate 900 shots by CIPA standards.

Is the BL-5 compatible with the MB-D17 for D500?
Chandler, yes the BL-5 is compatible with the MB-D17. I ordered three to use with D810's MB-D12 grip. When the EN-EL 18a battery is paired with the BL-5, You can shoot with the D500 for a bigger part of the day. If you can recharge at the end of the day, two BL-5,s and two of the EN-EL 18a batteries would keep you going.

Will this fit the Vello BG-N19-2 Battery Grip for Nikon D850 or only the Nikon battery grip?
Sorry really cant help you dont know. But I do know that you should stick with Nikon grips I had some offbrand a grip give my camera out on usual readings I sent it to Nikon and they said they could not be responsible for any non-Nikon product. I know the Nikon group is a lot more but in the long run it appears to be worth it thanks

If I buy the MB-D12, do I also need to buy the BL-5 Battery Chamber cover as well or will the MB-D12 battery pack, as ordered, hold on N-15 Battery?
The BL-5 cover is used with the en-el18 battery. You can use the en-el15 battery with the MB-D12 grip as ordered.

How can I charge the batteries of the EN-EL18a if the charger is not in stock. Do the camera D810 charger supply power (full charge overnight) to the MB-D12 to power the EN-EL18a ?

can this cover fits mcoplus grips and fit en-el18 battery to get 9fps with extra longer battery life?
I am using this on a Meike D850 grip and it works perfectly. If the grip can use the EN-EL18 battery, it should definitely work with this.
