The Elite Tripod CT-3472LV M2 with Leveling Center Column from Feisol is constructed using CNC milled 6061-T6 aluminum and high-grade carbon fiber legs that make the tripod a lightweight 4.9 lb. Also, by unlocking the twist locks, the 4-section tripod can reach a maximum height of 71.3", and with the 3 variable leg angles of 25, 50, and 75°, the support can go as low as 3.7". Meanwhile, Feisol's Rapid anti-leg rotation technology does not allow the legs to twist when fully extended. Because of the 66 lb weight capacity, the tripod supports mirrorless to large format cameras for professional applications. Additionally, the legs fold 180° in reverse, which makes it a compact 22.4", and the built-in bubble level along with the leveling center column ensures that your horizon is aligned every time.

Completely fell apart after 1 year of light use

This tripod completely fell apart after 1 year. I had to manually reassemble it on-site on actual jobs at least 3 times when it completely fell apart. One leg has been problematic almost from the start, and cannot be fully extended or retracted, causing alignment problems. This tripod has slowed me down on the job, embarrassed me in front of clients, and completely wasted my money in general. Do not buy this product if you want something reliable.

question
Any idea what the weight would be with the center column removed and the mounting plate installed?
Weight of the LV version is 5.05 lb and the same tripod without the leveling head weighs 3.9 lb.

question
Has anyone actually removed the plastic caps at the end of the legs and installed the steel spikes in their place - they do not unscrew and I do not want to damage the tripod in the process?
The last page of the instructions describes how to take off the feet. This is a link to the instructions, http://bit.ly/2amde3S

question
I do a lot of shooting on ice along the shore line of Lake Superior...does anyone know where I can get retractable spiked feet that fit this? Using the rubber feet is just not an option in these conditions, but I also want the option of retracting them for other conditions without having to change out the feet.
You can use the FEISOL Stainless Steel Spikes.

question
Will the Acratech GPS ball head work with this? Is it too lightweight for this tripod? Also, does the center column come out? Is there a video anywhere that shows this?
You can use the Acratech GP-S ball head with this tripod. The center column is removable.

question
How low to the ground can you extend the legs? Will the center column get in the way? I shoot shorebirds/waterbirds at the beach & want to get eye level at times. Should I get a FEISOL without a center column? If so, what would you recommend?
The minimum height the tripod can go down to is 3.54 inches.

question
I HAVE THE FEISOL CT-3472LV Elite Rapid Carbon Fiber Tripod with Leveling Centre Column - Question: The leaving centre column works great for levelling but I can't for the life of me figure out how to 1. lock it in place so it does not rotate or 2. raise it for a higher positon and lock it down. Does it not do those things or do I have a defective levelling column?
The bottom rubber piece adjusts the tension in the leveler. The metal ring on the top of the center plate will allow you the adjust the column height.
