No, the Impact SRP-113 Long Double Stud 5/8" does not have a 1/4 20 hole. However. The aluminum Impact 5/8" Stud with 1/4"-20 Female Threads does.

Is this the item I need to attach a light fixture to my new C stand?
Hi Paul - you need to have a grip head on the end of the arm, to which this piece can attach. I have put lighter weight lights (like Lowel I-Lights directly clamped on the end of the arm. So if your c-stand has an arm, clamp directly or use the grip head and this piece on the arm.

What is the hole through the bottom for?
I put in a metal ring attached to a safety cable from the stud to the strobe light to make sure if the strobe was to come loose and fall, it would not fall far but instead hang off the C-Stand or boom arm the stud and grip was attached to.
