Only negative it’s hard to clean vs say the B&W pro series. The rim of filter is thicker than competing brands, so will protrude out a bit more, but that offers more bump resistance and snug hood attachment. The difference is only noticeable with lens hood off/reversed when stored. I Canon clear filters on all my L Series Lenses. Absolutely no image quality issues in any conditions I have shot in. Purchased all my Canon clear filters through B&W, guaranteed to be new/unopened.

Been ordering from B&H a couple of decades. Items always well packed, faster than estimated shipping, ordering name brands and eliminating the middleman with same pricing but better service. Filters fit my Canon lens perfectly, clean, no photo distortion, and feel better the crystal is protected. 10 out of 10 experience with B&H!!

Will this fit (and still allow my lens cap to attach) a Canon PowerShot SX500IS?

Since the SX500IS does not have filter threads, this filter will not fit. You may be able to find a third-party filter adapter online, but B&H does not carry it at this time.

Does this filter fit the canon ultra wide angle 17-40m USM?

The Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM lens accepts a 77mm filter. With that said, the B+W 77mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter B&H # BWUVXSP77 would be a better choice in terms of size and offers a thinner ring to prevent vignetting. Please see the image below for reference.

I am thinking about a filter for a Swarovski spotting scope that takes an 82mm filter. I am assuming this will work?

Will vignetting occur when using this filter on the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens with the supplied lens hood?

The Canon 77mm Protector Filter is not a slim or thin filter, so it will have slight vignetting at the wider range of the 24-105mm f/4 lens. The B+W UV-Haze #010 MRC MASTER Filter (77mm), BH # BWUVM77, is slim and would be a better option.
