Genaray LED-7500T overview

  • 1Description

One of the wide-format models of Genaray's Professional Series of on-camera lights, the LED-7500T offers a bright, soft light output, spread 10" across. It's compact and lightweight and perfectly suitable for on-camera applications, and is just as ideal for AC-powered, continuous studio setups. It's adjustable from a warm 2800K to cool 6500K color temperature for different shooting conditions, and features 320 LEDs that deliver up to 1500 lux brightness at 3 ft. Brightness is dimmable and flicker-free from 100-10%. Both color and brightness are adjustable by stepless, smooth-tuning dials on the rear. The LED-7500T is stackable vertically with additional LED-7500T units and also with Genaray LED-6800 units via integrated shoe mounts, allowing you to expand a single light source, especially useful for in-studio productions. A slide-in diffuser is included that will let you soften the light output and reduce contrast between different areas of your subject.

The LED-7500T can be powered by an included NP-F750 battery, included AC adapter, or any other Sony L Series battery. An indicator light on the rear turns on when remaining battery life reaches low status. An AC/DC battery charger and tilt and swivel ball head are also included. The ball head features a shoe mount that can be removed to reveal a 1/4"-20 thread for mounting and adjusting the light on stands.

    Genaray LED-7500T reviews

    LED-7500T 320 LED Variable-Color On-Camera Light is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly constructed I'm a traveling artist and purchased this light by recommendation of a BH lighting specialist. The size of the light is great for a carry-on bag and the product is light weight. I love that you can change tonality and vibrancy of the light. However, within the first few weeks of having it, the power cord kept slipping out due to poor construction - I had to tape it together. Then shortly after, the knobs for the tone and vibrancy fell off even though I'm very careful in handling and packing the product. Now the tonality changes in its own and does not stay where I need it. A year later my light is ready to be junked for a new one. I will likely buy a different brand and invest a bit more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk The 1st unit I recieved, would not turn on. At best, I got a slight flicker of light, and then nothing. It simply did not work.I contacted B&H, and they quickly exchanged the broken one for a new one. That one turned on at least. However, during it's first use, it shut off at random times. Sometimes it would not turn back on without turning the switch on and off several times. Other times it flickered like a strobe light - with a full charge! At one point, the brightness suddenly dropped by about half while the camera was running. That was the final straw. I returned it for a full refund. The unit is cheap plastic, and clearly the internal parts are cheap too. Not something I would expect for what I paid. It feels like a $ toy. It's total garbage. Pass on by this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Correction to koolman's Review I wish there was a way to edit my previous review once it's been submitted to B&H! I apologize for any confusion here. After experimenting with several filter gels, the correct filter gel to perfectly color-correct this light to any incandescent light is a 1/2-stop pink (like the Rosco #4815, sold here at B&H). The combination of the 1/2-stop pink filter gel plus the light's built-in color dial counteracts the green of this light and gives you a perfect match for any incandescent light. Enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressed with battery life I bought this light and got a female cold shoe adapter to mount to a cheap light-stand so I can set it up at dim wedding rehearsal venues. The build is real study and it's plenty bright. Plenty of light on the subject out to ten yards. I just received the light yesterday and I have been running it (on the battery) on 100% strength for 2 1/2 hours and it doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. However, I already have one bulb out in the first use. In that same row, there are four bulbs that burn twice as bright as every other bulb and they don't dim evenly with the rest of the bulbs. Overall I'm liking it. I'm going to return it for another unit and see if this is just some kind of defect just in my light. Definitely going to give it another try. I hope the new one holds up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Follow-Up to TB's Review TB is absolutely correct when he states Needs Color Correction. This light IS a bit greenish when you begin dialing down its color-balance toward the warm 3200K setting. This is a problem with MANY LED lights. And, yes, this is a problem that isn't easily fixed. However, it is a problem that IS still fixable with a small additional purchase and a bit of ingenious tweaking.Buy a sheet of Rosco Cinegel 3106 filter gel in a small 20x24 roll, available here at B&H for a mere $$.Using a scissors, cut the Rosco gel to the exact size of the light. Slide the filter gel into the light. Insert the light's included diffuser filter to hold the scissor-cut gel sheet in place. Then tweak the color balance knob on the light. You WILL then be able to achieve a PERFECT match for ANY incandescent light.DO NOT purchase Rosco's #3407 Cinegel, which is rated at 3200K, because it will, like this light, leave in the green. The #3106 filter adds the perfect amount of pink to counteract the green. Lee and other filter gel manufacturers no doubt have their own #3106 filter gel equivalent. I don't know about those. It took me a bit of experimenting and a few dollars wasted in filter gel purchases (first I bought their Swatchbook, which contains all their color filter gels, but, at only a few inches, the Swatchbook gel sheets aren't big enough to completely cover an LED light, so I had to guess and buy bigger sheets) to figure out the perfect Rosco color filter gel to color-correct this and other LED lights to the exact color temperature of incandescent light.Properly gelled with the Rosco #3106 filter, this light is a great product! With the diffusion filter added, the light produces a nice, soft, even illumination, and its wide shape flatly illuminates an entire 120-degree field of view, useful at the wide-angle end of a camera's zoom lens when shooting in dimly-lit situations like wedding banquet halls. This light eliminates the center-spot deer caught in headlights (subject in the middle of the frame lit to the left and right of the subject in shadow) common to smaller LED lights. Highly recommended!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Great Needs Color Correction This light has a very nice soft light that can fill a small room or less with the dimmer. I was happy with the mount of soft light it threw with only a battery. A major issue I had with this light is one that isn't easily fixed, it's color balance at 32K for white balance is off and if you are trying to match it to other 32k balanced LED's or tungsten lights you will notice the color difference between this unit and others. The LED's used in these fixtures have a slight green/yellow tint at 3200 white balance. They are not a pure 3200 kelvin which means you will either notice a slight magenta tone to actual 32k balanced light, or a slight greenish tone to the Generay light. Ok I guess if you are using all Generay lights but not good for most lighting situations. Had to return mine due to the green/yellow color balance. I could not achieve true 3200k white balance using this light regardless of where I positioned the color balance dial. Thought being able to dial in color temp would be awesome but for now I'm going back to a gel balanced LED until these are perfected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Camera Light for the Price This is a great light! The color Temp dial is great for changes in lighting like from going in doors after shooting outdoors. Much faster and easier than changing a filter. Very bright as well with a good dimmer. Rechargeable battery same as my Sony NX5 Camera uses. ** The only bad thing is the ball head mount it comes with is very cheap. I would consider using a different mount like I have done.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Costly Disappointment As a independent freelance video creator, I was drawn to this product based off of the high rating and the efficiency of LED technology. I didn't have high expectations buying this product. I just needed a powerful light that functions, but that wasn't the case. The day I got it also started many problems. At first I was very impressed by how bright this thing got. But it had a lot of flickering issues. I noticed 4 LED nodes do not light up at all. Sometimes I have it set at 50% brightness then all of a sudden it would flicker brighter. The mount adaptor it came with broke on the first day. Then when I plug in the wall adaptor, it triggered an issue with the temperature control. I found this video that shows exactly the same problem I have: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSJpevBtFJk. When I first got it in the mail, I was impressed by the nice packaging and the many accessories it came with. But for $ dollars, this product barely functions. There's no way I can use this in any professional setting. I'm very skeptical about buying anymore of their products.
