Swarovski ATS 65 HD overview

  • 1Description

The ATS-65 20-60x65mm HD Spotting Scope with Eyepiece (Angled Viewing) from Swarovski is a rugged yet refined scope from one of the world's most renowned optics manufacturers. The ATS series combines the unmatched image quality and world-class workmanship that nature enthusiasts, tactical professionals, and researchers have come to expect from Swarovski. The 65mm configuration is compact, relatively lightweight, and particularly well suited for the hunter or bird-watcher on the go.

Swarovski's proprietary SwaroVision technologies redefine the standard for optical excellence. Fluoride-containing HD elements are the core of the ATS series spotting scopes. These premium-glass elements efficiently transmit all wavelengths of visible light, resulting in bright images that are color faithful, crisp, and rich with detail. SWARODUR and SWAROTOP coatings on all lenses and prisms minimize glare while maximizing contrast. Phase-corrected prisms ensure that images are rendered with unsurpassed clarity. Perfecting the optical path is a SwaroVision field-flattener lens that eliminates geometric optical distortion throughout the zoom range. Field-flattener lenses reduce barrel and pincushion artifacts common in wide-angle and telephoto optics while preserving clarity and sharpness along the edges of the field of view.

Optional digiscoping accessories from Swarovski allow operators to transform their ATS spotting scope into a formidable digital imaging platform. These accessory adapters enable integration with point-and-shoot, mirrorless, and DSLR camera systems, and feature the build quality and thoughtful engineering you expect from Swarovski.  Now your superior optics can be used to capture high-definition stills and video of that rare bird or butterfly in your sight. A removable sighting aid acts as an auxiliary scope for easy target acquisition while a camera is mounted to the eyepiece.

Ergonomic handling and user-friendly functionality package the ATS premium optics into a full-featured glassing system. An included 20-60x eyepiece features a wide viewing angle and generous eye relief, making the ATS an observer's delight and nothing less than you expect from Swarovski. The eyepiece quickly attaches/detaches from the objective assembly's bayonet mount for easy disassembly, transportation, and storage. The nitrogen-purged, O-ring sealed, and rubber-armored housing ensure waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof performance in almost any environment. Whether you are in the wild, on the battlefield, or at the range, the ATS spotting scope is engineered to deliver world-class performance in extreme conditions for years to come.

    Swarovski ATS 65 HD reviews

ATS-65 HD 20-60x65mm Spotting Scope with Eyepiece (Angled Viewing) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect The ease of focus, the brightness and the general comfort and clarity of the viewing experience are incomparably better than any other scope I've tried, and I tried quite a few before choosing this one. I would have given it 5 stars except for the two things I mentioned in cons: 1) the rubber piece that covers the eyepiece tends to come off all the time in the field (I walk and hike with my scope hanging from my neck, on the tripod on my shoulder, or strapped, on the tripod, to my backpack). This rubber cover is secured by a string, but when it is hanging from the string it obviously doesn't protect the eyepiece from scratches. 2) far more serious is that while hiking with the scope on the tripod strapped to the side of my pack, on a road, so no branches or anything, the eyecup (the part you extend fro no glasses or leave flat for glasses) fell off and was lost. I've been using the scope without it until I can get a replacement, but since I live in Argentina (no Swarovski dealers) that means waiting until a future visit to the US.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good I've waited a long time to own a spotting scope. Thirty two years! I have always been greatful to other bird watchers who afforded views through their spotting scopes when I didn't have one of my own. I would go birding and often would repeat the mantra, I wish I had a spotting scope. Now, I catch myself starting to say the mantra...oh wait, I do have one! Recently, bird watching in Vermont, looking at Snow Geese, I was, for the first time afforded others to have that unparallel view that a spotting scope affords. For several viewers, it afforded an ah-ha! moment. The scope is superior in optical brightness at it's 20X range. As soon as you begin to zoom in, optical brightness is diminished greatly. This is true of most scopes. The ease of focussing is superior. I wasn't sure I was going to like the angled eye piece, but find it quite nice. And with the ability to change the veiwing angle with out having to adjust the height of the scope for other viewers makes both shared viewing and efficiency easy.I was impressed by the minimum focus capabilities of the scope. The scope is light, which makes it nice for carrying. I think for the price of the scope, Swarovski could include a padded carrying case as they do with binocular cases. I currently wrap mine in a car blanket for transport. I've been encouraged and confirmed by my choice in this optic by well respected local field ornothologists. I think it's an investment well spent and hope to share a lot more views and Ah-ha moments with folks. PS I rushed to buy a tripod and head for my scope. I am not totally satisfied with it's functionality for my purposes. Take time to find a tripod and head that works with ease and fluidity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice indeed Lots of light. Even at the highest mag it is crystal clear. The peephole is only marginally useful, but it's not in the way, either.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I was expecting more... This scope I was expecting a lot from because their binoculars blow my mind every time I look through the EL's. Really cant imagine a better view. I was surprised at the price of this scope, I really thought it would be a bit more if it appeared anything like the EL bins but I took it out for the day and was not impressed. The view is not razor sharp like I expected. The brightness was nice but I was not wowed. I was testing the Kowa Prominar TSN-553 next to it and I found the Kowa had a much easier and clearer view but of course not as bright. With this scope you are getting a little more brightness of course and a lot more weight which can be helpful on windy days. The eyes piece is very comfortable to look through especially if you were glasses. But I had some pretty high expectations. And was not impressed! I could not understand why the otherSwarovskiATS-65 HD with 25-50x eyepiece was 200+ dollars more and the next day a birder came by with that exact scope and eyepiece and had a chance to looke through it. The view was much nicer and sharper but not by much. I hope this helps you decide. I think for the size weight and price you could probably get a Vortex Razor 80mm much cheaper and get a comparable view of course but weight is a factor. I have had a few views from the Vortex Razor 80 and was impressed unlike my surprising experience with theSwarovskiATS-65 HD 20-60x65mm. I could have gotten a faulty combo but I would be surprised based on Swarovski stellar reputation.
