The ATS-80 20-60x80mm HD Spotting Scope with Eyepiece (Angled Viewing) from Swarovski is a rugged yet refined scope from one of the world's most renowned optics manufacturers. The 80mm configuration is robust yet relatively lightweight, and is suited to a wide range of glassing needs, including those of long-range hunters and bird-watchers.

Fluoride-containing, premium-glass lenses efficiently transmit all wavelengths of visible light for bright images that are color faithful, crisp, and rich with detail. Coatings on all lenses minimize glare while maximizing contrast, phase-corrected prisms ensure that images are rendered with clarity, and field-flattener lens technology eliminates geometric optical distortion throughout the zoom range. And because life in the field can be messy, the SWAROCLEAN lens coating makes it easier to clean away dirt such as water marks, insect repellents, or tree resin.

The included 20-60x eyepiece features a wide viewing angle and generous eye relief. The eyepiece quickly attaches to and detaches from the objective assembly's bayonet mount for easy disassembly, transportation, and storage. The nitrogen-purged, O-ring sealed, and rubber-armored housing ensure water, fog, and shockproof performance in almost any environment. A removable sighting aid helps in target acquisition when a camera is mounted to the eyepiece.

My Swarovski service was superb. First, the B&H gentleman who helped me with my purchase was first class. The Swarovski products have functioned wonderfully well. We expect viewing our mountains and wildlife for many years! John T Vandeberg

Impressive Optics

I bought this scope to bird watch on the recommendation of a professional bird guide. I was looking for optics that would be light, compact, provide a bright image, with resolution that would reveal fine feather detail. This scope provides all of that and more. I first purchased the 65mm scope but returned it for the 80mm and am not sorry (an exchange that was easily accomplished through B&H). The 80mm is noticeably brighter and provides slightly higher resolution at the higher powers with minimal weight and bulk. I have been impressed with both the brightness and the resolution of this scope. Because of the weather, I have used it to watch birds through a double-paned storm door. Even with that, I have been blown away by the fine feather detail I am able to see. I look forward to the views I will get outside without the intervening window glass. The focus is smooth, convenient, easy to use, and is fast. The sunshade extends easily and yet is firm enough to stay in place. The green rubber body armor seems durable and is attractive. The zoom eyepiece works smoothly. The tethered eyepiece cover is also a nice touch. Also, the angled viewing is convenient and comfortable. The spotting device on the side of the scope makes it easy to find an object. In short, I would recommend this scope without reservation!

Just as expected, perhaps more

Still getting used to the different location of the focus ring, but greatly appreciate how much lighter this scope is to the my previous scope.  Focused images are crisp and clearer that older scope in heat haze (although there are physical limits to that).  Have taken it out in the rain and appears to be as waterproof as advertised.  Have some trouble digi-scoping with my smart phone, but that may be more operator error than anything.  Appears to be pretty persnickity about aligning the phone lens and how close I get to the scope eyepiece, especially when zoomed in.  At normal setting, however, it does better than my previous scope.

The Swarovski ATS-80 20-60x80mm HD Spotting Scope with Eyepiece (Angled Viewing) has an arca-type foot and so can fit in any tripod that accepts arca-type plates. Additionally there is a 1/4"-20 threading on bottom which is compatible with most tripods.

What are the advantages of 80mm Swaroski scope and the 65mm?
Asked by: James
The larger the diameter the brighter the image. It becomes a factor if your primary viewing time is per dawn or post sunset. During normal day hours thew smaller 65mm is more than adequate.

What is difference in magnification between the 65mm and the 80mm?
Asked by: James
Hello James, Magnification is determined by the eyepiece (20-60 or 25-50 Wide Angle), and there is no difference in magnification between the 65 or 80 as a result. The 65 will be lighter, while the 80 will produce a brighter, higher quality image. Best Regards, David Eickelmann, Swarovski Optik.
