    Canon BG-E13 reviews

BG-E13 Battery Grip for EOS 6D is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 158.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Grip(worth the extra money) Have had my 6D for about a year now. Went through 2 after market grips and both failed. Both had problems with power cut outs and bad shutter lag. I then broke down and paid the big bucks for a Canon. Worth every cent. Works flawlessly and has never let me down. I guess I'm a slow learner, some after market products are just not worth the time and money and headaches. Furthermore the Canon grip fits perfectly on my camera, the others always had a slight space between the grip and camera bottom, which I'm sure is not good when it comes to the dust/moisture seal.... On this item I would highly recommend the Canon, its just worth it....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent design and function The grip comes with two trays -one for LE batteries and one for AA batteries. There's a slick cubby to store the camera battery door. The grip actually feels like an ergonomic grip and has independent shutter and exposure buttons when shooting portrait rotation. Having double the battery life for all night astro-landscape photography is a treat. Highly recommend this grip because the form fit and function are high quality. The only con is that the threaded mount hole is not as deep as the camera mount hole and can be issue with a panorama head - the attachment knob bottoms too early.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stick With A Canon Grip Stick with a Canon grip. All of he buttons work like they are supposed to, which some third party grips do not have. Some third party grips require a cable if you want to use the shutter button. Read the reviews of the third party grips.Stick with a Canon grip. If you ever decide to buy an L-Bracket, it will be designed to fit the exact shape of the Canon BG-E13. Third party grips cannot duplicate the exact shape of Canon BG-13, which means that they do not feel the same when you rotate the camera to vertical.Stick with a Canon grip. Not only does it have the same shape when you rotate it, but it is made of the same material, so it feels exactly the same. The BG-E13 has a solid build and feel to it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Grip! Being a tall guy with big hands, this grip definitely increases the aesthetic appeal, along with the other given benefits of longer battery life and comfortable vertical shooting. As a career photographer, I use this with my 6D all the time. The only reason I rate it 4-out-of-5 stars is because the glue that adheres the rubber to the surface isn't as durable as the glue used on the camera body itself. After about a year, the glue loosened from the inside out and the rubber detached from the grip itself. An aesthetic flaw, but can be remedied by you + super glue, or by Canon (for $$). Overall, a great purchase and, for people like me, essential to the value added to the camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, but you pay for it I have this on my 6D most of the time when I'm shooting outdoors and when traveling. I like the grip for the stability it gives me when holding the camera in portrait orientation, and because it takes the abuse of setting the camera down in less-than-ideal environments like on trails or rocks; the grip and the lens hood touch the ground, the body and lens don't. These two benefits are what sold me on it. For me, there is no real benefit to having two batteries in the camera. I don't shoot long videos, and I've never found myself in a situation where I missed a moment during the 5 seconds it takes to swap batteries. But you don't need to fill both battery slots for the grip to work, so I generally don't. So far, with both this grip and the nearly-identical one I had on my 60D, I haven't had the need to use the 6 AA cartridge. I do carry a load of NiMH AA's with me for my flash units, but this has been just a peice-of-mind feature so far, as the LP-E6 batteries have good working time, so much so that I've never exhausted my pair of them in a full day of shooting. I give this 4 stars because it doesn't feel any more substantial to me than the 60D's BG-E9 I paid significantly less for, nor any less substantial than the 5D3 grip that costs quite a bit more. I feel like Canon is scaling their grip pricing opportunistically with the mating camera value, rather than using correspondingly better materials or build quality. I also wish the grip had a place to store the battery hatch you need to remove from the camera when installing it, that would be a nice touch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pricey quite pricey compared to my 60D grip, can't say its really worth it. maybe its metal, but i cant confirm this. other than that i did like the feel. the groove on the back where the thub rests is more pronounced, comfortable. on the front as well theres a groove for the finger below the shutter button which was also nice texture matched the body well, as expected. its well made and feels great with the body, just expensive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid construction I'd never go without a battery grip. Since buying one for my 40D, I just loved the convenience of long battery life, and good feel the grip adds to the camera. It makes for shooting in portrait orientation much easier. My only complaint would be with the battery tray. On the 40D, I could swap a battery out in less than 5 seconds using only one hand - with this grip, you actually need to slide the entire battery tray out using both hands before being able to swap a battery, taking precious seconds away from shooting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks Great With The Camera! Just a simple thought... So perfect in outdoor shootings with lesser stress and a peace of mind, you won't be thinking your battery will last for a dayshoot. No complaints at all. This makes my camera more good looking though, hell yah!!! :)
