Flexible Battery System

I was so tired of running out of charged batteries while away from a power source. This grip takes AA batteries, the regular 6D batteries, and the power adapter cord. It goes on very easily and has a nice feel. I love the flexibility of being able to pop in some AAs if my 6Ds are wasted or their charger gets misplaced. If it can happen, it will.

No Complaints, No Worries, Real Deal

I was tempted to but so-called genuine grips from non-authorized dealers and also looked at third party versions. At the end of the day, I bit the bullet for a genuine grip from B&H. Works perfectly and, in my opinion, is worth the extra money for guaranteed fit and functionality.

Makes the camera easy to handle and allows the use of 2 batteries, now I dont even have to think about power. Holds the original battery door. Very solid construction. switch turning on and off the grip controls is a plus. Instant response from the buttons unlike the after market grip I purchased for my old camera. I highly recommend the canon grip.

This battery grip comes in good handy when it’s put into good use! If you use it wisely in good condition, it’ll last you. There’s nothing wrong with it when it’s delivered. After all, this is a good battery grip to invest for a Canon EOS 6D. Love it!

I've previously purchased an aftermarket version and from my experience, you pay for what you get. Don't hesitate and purchase this original Canon product to add battery life to your SLR and added grip.

Quality product, but adds noticeable weight

I am a small female who carries the Canon 6D with a 100-400mm lens on long hikes. I was quite surprised at how noticeable the increase in weight was with this grip and the extra battery. I will have to break out the hand-weights to prepare for toting this extra gear! Now, having said that, I love how well made this product is! It feels solid in the hand, and affixes to the camera seamlessly. I had originally gotten an off-brand from another dealer and it was pure garbage. It didn't fit right or feel good in the hand. I'll have to spend more time adjusting to the weight, but I think in the long run I'll be very happy to have the extra power. Ordering from B&H is always easy, fast and trouble-free.

Other than more battery juice and vertical controls, Does it improve the camera's performance of the Canon 6D? (Some cameras have faster burst rate, or burst capacity when a fully-loaded grip is attached) ?
Asked by: Shahar
I am not sure if it increases burst rate, but the burst rate does seem to suffer when you load the grip with AA batteries.

I just got this item, and it is working great as a power source, but none of the buttons (shutter release etc..) are working. The power button on the grip is on. Any suggestions?
Asked by: Anonymous
Make sure that the vertical grip switch is turned to the ON position. The vertical grip switch can be found near the vertical control buttons on the side of the battery grip.

The Canon 6Ds battery door has a locking pin which is used to remove the door. When the battery door is in the open position, you will see the release tab on the underside.

question

Hi, I have heard that with the battery grip installed, more current (amperage) is available, which can drive the focus motors faster and improve low light focusing speed. This aspect is not mentioned in the product description. Is this possible?Thank you,Mark
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately this is not the case. Battery grips are not designed to increase the autofocus speed nor will they do anything special to improve the performance in low light situations. At one point there were grips available for select cameras which would increase the frame rate of the camera, this was more typical in analog/film SLRs but there are a few DSLRs which had a grip option with a separate special battery for that purpose as well. However again this is not the case with the 6D and the BG-E13 grip. The BG-E13 grip will allow you to add a second LP-E6 battery (it can run off a single battery if you prefer). If you opt to use the second battery in the grip, the cameras performance will simply double. If you previously were able to take 200 shots on a full charge with the single battery without the grip, and then added the 2nd battery, you would then be able to extend your shoot to take a rough total of 400 images.
