Ruggard 55 overview

  • 1Description

The Hunter Pro 55 DSLR Holster Bag from Ruggard is slightly larger than the Pro 45 and holds your camera face down, with lens attached in shooting position. When you're ready to shoot, simply remove your camera, get the shot and replace your DSLR in the bag. The zippered top of the bag opens away from your body for fast access to your gear. This also serves as a security feature since no one but you will be able to see inside the bag. The bag contains three removable dividers that can be configured to accommodate the gear you are carrying. The bag has a water-repellent exterior and smooth polyester lining that helps prevent scratches to the finish of your camera/lens combo.

For storage, there is a front zippered organizer panel with additional mesh pocket, exterior mesh side pocket and two side loops that accept optional pouches. On the inside of the bag's quick-release flap, there are two touch fastened memory card pockets. The bag is carried by its adjustable, removable padded shoulder strap, top carry handle or belt loop that will leave you hands free. The zippers have yellow pull tabs that make the bag easy to use while you're wearing gloves. A non-removable, rapid deploy rain cover is stored in a bottom zippered pocket. The bag also contains metal D-rings for attaching an optional chest harness.

    Ruggard 55 reviews

Hunter Pro 55 DSLR Holster Bag is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hunter Pro 55 holster My eos 6d with attached hand strap & 24-105mm lens and detached hood just fit inside after adjusting the side suports. the shoulder strap is OK, not great. Using a separate large belt to hold it against my body I am able to hike ok with it. I like that the top flap opens outward but consistently have difficulty pulling the zipper back on the left side - seems to get caught on the lining material unless pulled just right. Overall a good purchase, especially for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I should get this long time ago I got it for my 5D mark II with 24-105mm. It fits the best amongst the rest in the store. It has good padding and sturdy to protect the camera. It has small pocket in the front and sides for you to put small things in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Otherwise probably good Went for this bag after 20+ years of Tamrac and probably as many of their bags, big and small, because they make nothing in holster/slim scale size that would accommodate a Nikon D800+grip, D810+grip, or D4S as is, and the silicon skins that render these even bulkier a pinch. Guess what: this bag doesn't fit the above described rigs either, neither will its straps accept the Tamrac M.A.S. system items that I need. Otherwise I returned it only reluctantly, it seems well put together and good for the challenges out there on the road.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Practical bag for daily use We use this bag with a Nikon D750 and a couple of filters, cards, batteries, cables etc. for daily use. The rain cover is effective and convenient. The bag is well balanced and secure. The bag is bulkier than a holster bag we have used for years for a D90 but has more space for items we are likely to need (except for spare lenses) so we like it a lot. A good choice with a general purpose lens when extra lenses are not needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fast-access case I use this case to carry my Nikon D800 with an attached 24-120 lens, which is my go-to setup. The case is easy to carry with me, whether in the field or on airplanes and affords easy and quick access to the camera. There is also extra room for spare batteries, cleaning cloths, and a few other small accessories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bag for Canon 6D Purchased the bag to give me walk around protection for the Canon 6D with attached 24-105 zoom lens. The Ruggard is well made and I like the front pocket as well as rain cover. Not sure I would wear it hiking since it plus camera are a bit heavy and bulky but I love it for my purposes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with the (Dual Harness by OP/TECH USA) I was looking for a small bag that would hold my canon 6d with a grip and my sigma 35mm art lens. It is a tight fit with my grip so I decided to put a spare battery in the front pocket (this is a personal preference for ease of putting the camera away, the battery grip fits). This bag works great when I want to pack light for example my canon 6d and a, Sigma 35mm art or canon 24-105mm F4 and a canon 270EXII fits on either side of the lens compartments. The front pouch holds a lens pen, extra battery, and I Keep 4 AA batteries in a blue cell case as backup for my flash. If you need more than this you should go with a bigger bag. This also works well with the Dual Harness by OP/TECH USA. This makes it easy to clip the bag to my left and camera to my right. It only takes seconds to put the camera away and swing the bag around to clip it behind. The advantage to this is the holster bag stays out of my way when I don't need it (like a backpack) but I don't have to take it off my solders to get to my gear.
