Ruggard 65 overview

  • 1Description

The Hunter Pro 65 DSLR Holster Bag from Ruggard is slightly larger than the Pro 55 and holds your camera face down, with lens attached in shooting position. When you're ready to shoot, simply remove your camera, get the shot and replace your DSLR in the bag. The zippered top of the bag opens away from your body for fast access to your gear. This also serves as a security feature since no one but you will be able to see inside the bag. The bag contains three removable dividers that can be configured to accommodate the gear you are carrying. The bag has a water-repellent exterior and smooth polyester lining that helps prevent scratches to the finish of your camera/lens combo.

For storage, there is a front zippered organizer panel with additional mesh pocket, exterior mesh side pocket and two side loops that accept optional pouches. On the inside of the bag's quick-release flap, there are two touch fastened memory card pockets. The bag is carried by its adjustable, removable padded shoulder strap, top carry handle or belt loop that will leave you hands free. The zippers have yellow pull tabs that make the bag easy to use while you're wearing gloves. A non-removable, rapid deploy rain cover is stored in a bottom zippered pocket. The bag also contains metal D-rings for attaching an optional chest harness.

    Ruggard 65 reviews

Hunter Pro 65 DSLR Holster Bag is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted -- almost I wanted a waist bag that would hold my Nikon D750 with 28-300mm lens and a Herringbone hand strap. I wanted something I could easily bike or hike with. I tried another bag, but it was too tight around the camera. This case is not overly roomy, but it fits, and allows adjustment. If you want to able to have the lens hood on, this case isn't deep enough, but that seems a bad idea anyway. There is room for filters or a strap to live beside the camera. There's certainly room for extra cards and batteries in the front pocket. Wish it had come with a waist belt. Camera bags are very personal. I didn't try this out at the store, but I'm pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from big, roomy, solid bag I have a Canon EF 70-300mm L lens, with a Canon lens ring mount and a tripod quick release plate always attached. I needed a holster bag big enough I could put my Canon 60D, with this lens attached into and this fits the bill with space to spare. It has multible dividers inside you can move around or remove. Has compartments for battery, sd cards, and other small acc. When not using this body/lens combo, I use this as a storage bag for this lens. This is my biggest, heaviest lens. I also keep my black rapid shoulder strap stored in this bag with the lens. Works perfect for those times i'm out shooting with only this lens/body and no other gear except acc (SD Cards, Batt, Etc.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for my D750 with 28-300mm I don't own a battery pack but I do have a hand strap. Bag roomy but not excessive. Expect the battery pack would fit. The 28-300mm fits easily, but not with the lens shade extended. With my set-up, there is room for filters, cards, extra battery, even the Nikon manual. With velcro pads, some customization is possible. I use a belt, which isn't included. A shoulder strap is. May try a combination. I like going out without extra lenses, but with more protection than just a strap. Some other holster type bags are just too tight around lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pro Holster for my Canon T5i with a battery Grip As with any piece of Camera Gear that you try, you can tell the quality, the build and if the piece of equipment fits your needs. I received the Hunter Pro 65 DLSR Holster on time as stated in the order. The biggest reason I ordered this particular bag was that it suppossedly would work for my Canon T5i and the basttery grip. True to the fact it does work with my Canon T5i, battery grip and 18-135 lens. The build and stitching are of excellent quality. It allows for some accessories, extra batteries, SD cards, charger, and the like to be carried as well. This bag allows you to open the bag and grip the camera facing you the shooter instead of having the top of a normal bag getting in your way. I consider this bag an excellent resource for a day of shooting without the added weight of a regular bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Nikon D800 I have a Nikon D800 with AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm ED lens. This is the only DSLR holster bag I've tested that will fit the camera and attached lens with adequate protection. I use a similar LowePro for my D300, but LowePro does not make a bag big enough to carry the D800 with 24-70mm lens attached. I prefer to use the holster type bag when traveling even though it is too heavy to be attached to your belt. This bag allows me to grab my camera with attached lens hood and Vello hand grip and shoot quickly. The internal velcro pads on either side of the lens extends deep enough into the bag to prevent the lens hood from hooking on them. The hidden rain cover is a great idea, but the material is not rain proof and will only protect the bag for a short period of time from light rain in my opinion. The shoulder strap also has to be removed to cover the top of the bag which is not a useful design. I will be purchasing a separate siliconized rain cover. The front zippered pouch is big enough to carry a couple of filters and extra battery. The side mesh pocket will be great to carry a real rain cover! Sturdy shoulder strap and rugged metal clasps give me confidence when traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ruggard Pro Camera Holster I call B & H and asked them to test 3 Holsters to see which best held a Canon 1DX2 with a 24-105mm lens with the lens hood in the shooting position. The sales person emailed me back that this was the Ruggard was the best fit even though it was no the most expensive. It fit perfectly. It is easy to insert or remove the camera lens combo from the holster , and it is very well made..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bag! I sometimes need to walk around in a hazardous industrial environment with minimal equipment. This bag is great for when I'm carrying my Canon 5D Mark 2 with a medium zoom lens attached (Canon 24-105mm) and a Really Right Stuff L-plate on the body. Without the L-plate I can just about get away with a Tamrac 515 but this Ruggard bag is still a better size. I can put things in the front compartment without making it harder to remove the camera from the bag (that's a problem with the Tamrac if I have the hood reversed on the lens). I wasn't sure whether to go with this bag or Ruggard's slightly shorter 55 model. I think the 55 would have worked but I'm pleased I went with this one. It accommodates the camera, etc, with ease, but does not feel too large. I normally put the camera and lens in the bag with the hood reversed on the lens. But there is even room to leave the hood installed in shooting position. For me, that's a slight advantage of the 65 over the 55. An unexpected bonus is that if necessary I can attach a Lowepro Sliplock lens pouch to the loop on one side of this bag. It's a bit more cumbersome but works in extremis. The bag is solidly constructed and nicely padded. I'm very pleased with it and cannot think of anything negative to say about it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good walk arround bag Good small bag to carry to travel. Zipper pocket inside front pocket big enoug for a passport. The other two pocket inside could be deeper. Top cover only have two memory card pocket. It could has a large pocket like most Tamrac bags. Hoever, it fit a D800 with 28-300 lens with should strap nicely.
