Field Optics Research A001 Overview

An ideal solution for those who frequently use their binoculars on a support system, the Field Optics Research Rapid-Release Binocular Tripod Adapter allows you to install the included receiver nut onto the standard 1/4"-20 adapter socket on the binocular and leave it there for fast mounting and removal.

The receiver nut simply screws onto the binocular and the adapter snaps into it, allowing it to be set on a tripod. When the adapter is removed, the nut remains nestled between the optical tubes so there are no protruding parts to cause snags or to interfere with uses most cases or pouches. For those who use multiple binoculars, additional receiver nuts are available separately for quick swaps without the need to remove and mount multiple adapters.

The main part of the adapter is equipped with a standard 1/4"-20 tripod socket for use on most photo/video/field tripods and heads, and it's compatible with Manfrotto 200PL quick release heads — no QR plates required. The adapter is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy with a scratch and corrosion-resistant anodized finish. Up a stand, in a blind, at the range, or anywhere you hunt, bird-watch, or look through your binoculars, the Rapid-Release Binocular Tripod Adapter makes setup and breakdown fast and easy.

I'm pleased. It was easy to install and well constructed. With the quick release base it's a breeze to attach my binoculars to a tripod. Great stabilization for bird watching and at the range.

Spring doesn't hold binocular bold steady enough

The adapter has two assemblies: a removable bolt with 2 washers that can be screwed into the binoculars, and a post that can be screwed onto a tripod or quick release. The post attaches to the bolt via a slot int he bolt and a spring on the post applies pressure to the bolt to hold it steady, but only sort of. In windy conditions the my Zeiss 8x40 Terra ED binoculars wobble on the spring noticeably. I also had to try different combinations of the washers to find out that only with the rubber o-ring washer alone would the slot in the bolt line up (vertically between the two objectives of the binoculars) to properly mate with the post. There must be better ways to design this kind of thing. I may try the Nikon adapter.

Is this the GEN 2 3-way adapter that is Arca Swiss capable?

No it is not. The only binocular tripod adapter with an Arca-Swiss base is the Benro Arca-Swiss Style Binocular Bracket BH #BEBINOH200 • MFR #BINOH200 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1604783-REG/benro_binoh200_arca_swiss_style_binocular_bracket.html

question

How does this attach to my Nikon 10x50 binocular? Do I need another piece of hardware?
Asked by: Nancy C.
Not sure for the Nikon. I have the vortex diamondback 10x42 and it fits fine on the binos with my vortex high country tripod it might be difficult to screw in the receiver nut due to the 50x bino size but it should fit.
