It really depends on what you are doing. Audacity is a simple to use and free DAW, and a lot of people really like it. For something with a little more sophistication you may want to consider Audition from Adobe.

Does the Senal UB-440 Professional USB Microphone work with windows 8/8.1 RealTek sound system?
Yes it does. After plugging it in you have to make sure that your audio input device is set to the USB microphone (and not to the default Realtek input) Same applies to the microphone's headphone jack if that is where you want the output. I use this microphone for tutorials with Camtasia. Would also recommend a pop shield to help reduce the explosive p's and t's
