The CLI-42 Gray Ink Cartridge from Canon is a specially formulated ChromaLife100+ ink. The ink produces professional quality and long-lasting photo prints, ideal for displaying printed works of art. Canon's proprietary FINE (Full Photolithographic Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) technology provides sharpness and detail. The individual ink system helps increase efficiency since you'll only be replacing the color that runs out.

Canon CLI-42 Reviews
It is what it is -- it's ink
Can't say much here as it's just ink, but the Pro 100 is one of my favorite printers to date, and a bit sad they discontinued it (as they were practically giving them away years ago) and now that I'm printing more, I'm concerned that Canon will stop making the CLI-42 so I tend to stock up sometimes and buy 3-4 sets to keep on hand (if left sealed, I found it can last for a while -- maybe 2-3 years -- if stored properly and color seems to be fine, as I had some that was probably 8 years old and compared it and it looked the same as one of the new packs i bought more recently, so it can last if you leave it sealed in its plastic packaging and store it at room temperature (say between 50 degrees and 75 degrees out of sun-light or heat sources). But otherwise, it's just ink.
Favorite Source For My Canon Ink
I use a Canon Pixma Pro printer to print my company's art prints on demand. We go through certain colors more quickly than others and I love that I can buy individual cartridges from B&H and appreciate how quickly they ship. Off-brand inks fade quickly, but these don't. Great quality and fair price.
