This is a heavy duty clamp. At first I didn't care for the clamp until I rearranged the spring to make it work easier. The clamp is made to hold square or round stock.

This is nice piece of work, easy to use and mounts really well on my stands. I use it for the large eight foot scrim. The only drawback if it even is a problem is that head is heavy. I don't think its a drawback.

Yes the Westcott Grip Head for Scrim Jim Frame/Panel Reflector is made of metal like most Grip heads.
