Nikon A211 overview

  • 1Description

With powerful magnification and large objectives, Nikon's black 12x50 Aculon A211 Binocular is an ideal device for hunters, birders, and outdoor enthusiasts who require an optic that delivers the capability of making long-range observations in even the most challenging light conditions.

The enhanced light-gathering ability offered by the 50mm objectives helps to ensure bright and clear views at dawn and dusk, or when peering into dense underbrush. Anti-reflection multi-coated aspherical lenses, made with environmentally friendly Eco-Glass elements, complement the BAK4 Porro prism light path to deliver high-contrast images with enhanced depth of field without edge distortion, as well as accurate color fidelity. Despite its 12x powerful magnification, this version of the A211 has a wide angle of view that helps to offset the appearance of visible hand shake that is common with high-power optics such as this, while presenting the user with spacious views.

The Aculon's sculpted rubber-armored housing is designed to fit naturally into the observer's hand and provide secure non-slip handling. It is offered here in a subdued black color. Twist-up rubber eyecups and a comfortable eye relief enable easy viewing without eye fatigue, especially during long observation sessions. For those who might experience arm fatigue or visible hand shake from holding a high-power/large-objective optic, the binocular can be tripod mounted using an optional adapter. The combination of image quality and user-friendly design makes the 12x50 Aculon A211 a natural option for long-range glassing in even the most challenging light.

Optical Performance
  • Powerful 12x magnification allows for detailed observations of distant subjects
  • Large 50mm objective lenses improve light-gathering ability for bright and clear images, even in challenging conditions such as at dawn and dusk
  • Traditional Porro prism light path produces a rich depth of field, allowing the user to discern the relative distances between objects being viewed
  • High refractive index BAK4 prisms deliver a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Aspherical eyepiece lenses correct spherical aberration to produce clear and crisp images, with reduced edge distortion and astigmatism
  • Anti-reflection multi-coated optics produce neutral and accurate color fidelity and improve contrast and image brightness
  • Wide apparent angle of view reduces the appearance of visible hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics such as this
  • 272-foot field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
  • Large slip-resistant center focus wheel is easy to manipulate, even while wearing gloves
  • Right-eye dioptric correction compensates for individual user's optical prescription for clearer and sharper views
  • 56-72mm interpupillary adjustment range
  • Twist-up click-stop rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • Tripod mountable with optional adapter for hands-free use with reduced vibration and arm fatigue
  • 11.5mm eye relief allows easy viewing without eye fatigue, especially during long observation sessions
  • 4.2mm exit pupil will cover most pupils as they open and dilate in low light for a full and complete view without vignetting

Nikon A211 reviews

12x50 Aculon A211 Binoculars (Black) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from POWERFUL & CLEAR These binoculars are REALLY SHARP. I constantly use these when viewing wildlife and I'm always amazing on how clear everything looks through them. I wish my eyes were made of the same glass as these Nikon binoculars. The images I get with my 300mm f/2.8 VRII are so similar to what I see through these binoculars that it's starting to boggle my mind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty darn good Definitely a rugged, no-slip model. The diopter adjustment is a little tricky (hard to grab and stiff to turn) but that's not a big deal, since it's probably going to be adjusted only if multiple people are looking through the binoculars. Other than that, I rate it A-OK -- a good bargain for a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good binoculars at a great price I've had and used several binoculars of various brands over the past 30+ years and these are one of the best. I know if Nikon puts their name on something it will be a good product and I wasn't disappointed. In fact for the price they work better than I expected. I had tried some Nikon 16X50 at a local retailer but I didn't care for them. Too much chromatic aberration. Too strong and hard to keep steady. These are just about right magnification wise. CA is very much reduced and they are pretty sharp. Good for general viewing and not bad for astronomy either. You can easily see the 4 major moons of Jupiter. You can adjust the eye relief to extend in steps which is a nice feature. But they do not cup around your eyes like others I have used. This helps block out stray light from the sides. Comes with a nice case, strap and lens covers. The binoculars are covered in rubber which is good protection and for gripping but makes it difficult to insert and remove from the case. You can minimize this by squeezing them together before you insert them. Other than those two minor complaints I'm very satisfied with them. I gave em 5 stars for price and performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommend these binoculars Used for the range, the field, star gazing. Was able to see three of Jupiter's moons and probably saw a fourth, however, would need a tripod. The glasses themselves are well made and images are crisp and clear. Strap is so-so, but a five star because of the overall Nikon quality and BH super service. Thanks
