LensCoat RainCoat 2 Overview

To protect your camera and telephoto lens from the elements, use the RainCoat 2 Standard Camera Cover (Realtree AP Snow) from LensCoat. This product affords easy access to camera and lens controls while deflecting water, snow, salt spray, dust, sand, and dirt. Constructed from a lightweight waterproof and breathable poly tricot material with tape-sealed seams, this cover also features an integrated storage pocket and left side foldaway arm sleeve for easy access to lens controls and manual focus operation. This standard-sized RainCoat is designed for use with DSLR cameras with lenses ranging from 100mm to 400mm f/5.6 telephotos.

Cinch straps are incorporated into the front and rear of the cover for quick and easy installation that can be sized to fit your specific lens. The two side pockets both reveal foldaway arm sleeves for protected camera access. The rear of the cover allows for unrestricted access, and the bottom has a hook-and-loop fastened seam for attaching to a tripod. This product is made in the USA.

The Realtree AP Snow pattern is primarily white and features a subtle pattern of leaves and branches that is well-suited to outdoors shooting during the winter.
Cover size is well-suited to DSLRs with standard-length telephoto lenses, ranging from 100mm lenses up to 400mm f/5.6 focal length lenses.
Lightweight, waterproof, and breathable poly tricot material with tape-sealed seams protects the lens and camera from rain, snow, salt spray, dirt, sand, and dust.
No-slip rubber is added to the front section to provide a solid grip on the lens hood without the use of a bungee cord.
Cinch straps adjust the total cover length by folding the material over itself and keeping the cover snug on variable sized lenses.
Two integrated side pockets reveal foldaway arm sleeves for easy access to camera and lens controls.
A hook-and-loop closure runs along the bottom of the cover to permit the use of a tripod or monopod, as well as manual focus control on the lens barrel.
The size and shape of the rear opening can be adjusted for greater protection or for easier control access. The design of the cover also does not require the use of a dedicated eyepiece.
A mesh storage pouch is included for packing the cover when not in use.
Compatible with optional LensCoats, Hoodie lens caps, and camera BodyGuards.

I haven't had a chance to test it in the rain yet.

I own three of these each a different size they work so well. I have used them in pouring rain/snow in Alaska in the spring and if put on correctly they keep my gear as dry as can be expected. Easy to use, and put on the camera as well as operate your body and lens inside.

question

I'm very interested in this product, my only concern is I own a Nikkor 200-500mm, but the product tops out at 400mm. Any thoughts about my predicament, potential issues you see owning the product? I assume I would be limited as to how far I could zoom, but I appreciate your feedback.
Asked by: Tim
I use this cover with my Sigma 150-600 C and I can go all the way to 600 fairly easily. I'm not sure what the total barrel length of the sigma is as compared to the 200-500, but I'm sure you can look up the specs when fully extended and if they're similar go for it! The only problem I have with the cover is it's kind of a pain to zoom in and out because once the cover is secured on the lens it will twist along with it. Other then that it helped me a lot while in Africa.
