Mothers are the lifeblood of the world. They were there when you scraped your knees the first time, raised you, introduced you to the daytime television you watched when you were sick from school. That is enough to ensure that you give her the best tech-related Mother’s Day gift you could possibly give her. And if you’re looking for that special gift for your wife that isn’t just breakfast in bed and a card, we have some suggestions.
The Casual Mom
For the moms who are casual users but in need a slight upgrade, I must suggest the Apple MacBook Neo! This slick 13” laptop price-to-performance ratio makes it one of the best devices out there for those looking to perform average tasks like surfing the web, chatting with others, and a whole lot more! It also comes in a slew of vivid colors like Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo. Grabbing her a case like the tomtoc The-Her A11 is a nice addition that provides her with multiple zipper enclosures to store accessories.
Speaking of accessories, Logitech makes some of my favorite peripherals and I can easily recommend the Signature M650 L which is a five-button mouse suitable for the average user and includes programmable side buttons for extra utility. If you want something a bit more streamlined with less buttons and a unique, smooth feel, Logitech’s M240 Silent Wireless Mouse is also a great option. It features a sleek contoured grip, near-silent clicking, and a long 18-month battery life!
If your mother doesn’t really care about laptops, consider a tablet. Apple’s iPad lineup offers a lot to just about everyone, but for the mother who wants to lay back and perform some basic tasks like watching media, I must suggest the Apple 11” iPad with the A16 chip. This iPad has a high resolution to make images pop and features built-in cameras and microphones so she can chat with others using Facetime or other compatible chatting applications.
Not everyone likes iPadOS, so for the Android user, the Samsung 11” Galaxy Tab A11+ is a comparable device. It has all the bells and whistles an Android tablet can have including a high-resolution screen, built in cameras, ample storage, and a whole lot more!
The Business Professional
From the moment the sun comes up until it falls beyond the horizon, the business mom is an elusive target to hand a gift to. Whether she is in an important meeting or commuting to the office, the business mom could definitely use an upgrade or two.
The Dell 15.6” Pro Essential 15 Laptop is a wonderful upgrade in many ways. Performance wise, it can load up an extensive spreadsheet in seconds, get onto calls in a moment’s notice, and it also includes a full number pad. A solid alternative is the Apple 13” MacBook Air with the M4 chip is also a solid alternative, giving the business mom in your life one of the best performing systems out there complete with ample memory, storage, and a colorful display suitable for both work and play!
Typing is the cornerstone to the world of business, so why strain yourself? You can help prevent onset arthritis and other physical ailments with the Logitech ERGO K860 Wireless Split keyboard. A flowing curvature and split key design provides a truly ergonomic feel allowing hours of comfortable typing. Included with the keyboard is a wrist rest that assists with reducing strain while also looking quite elegant.
Mouse-wise, the MX Vertical Advanced Ergonomic Mouse is a solid addition in the businesswoman’s arsenal, offering natural comfort by placing the hand at a specific angle to reduce strain found in wrists and forearms. If you want both, we have bundled these to devices together, making your choice easier.
The last accessory I can suggest the Insta360 Link 2 webcam! Not only does this device offer great resolution for various video calls, but it also uses an AI algorithm to detect the user and follow them around, which is great for presentations.
If your mom works from home, sprucing up the work area could totally help. Apart from some nifty mood lighting, fake plants, and a few framed posters from classic films, there are a bunch of accessories that could streamline her workload.
Docking stations like the OWC Thunderbolt 5 Hub offers expandable utilities transforming her work laptop into a fully fledged workstation. It mostly features USB-C Thunderbolt ports, so if you want something with additional types of ports, OWC’s 11-Port Thunderbolt 5 Dock is a fantastic alternative.
The Entertainment Lover
Sometimes, crawling up in a blanket to watch a show or movie is all a mother wants at the end of a long day. Mothers that live for the crispy visuals with smooth images moving about the screen would instantly benefit from a nice TV like the LG OLED evo AI C5!
With sizes up to 83”, you can fit the TV into a variety of areas within the household. Personally, as an owner of the LG C3 from a couple of years ago, I can say that OLED technology has changed the way I watch media and play games. Sony also offers a couple of their 4K BRAVIA 8 TV’s with scalable sizes including 55”, 65”, and 77”.
If you already have a great TV, may I suggest upping the audio quality with a soundbar. The Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar, while a bit on the higher end of the audio spectrum, does pack a punch! It contains a nine-speaker array with two up-firing drivers to provide a natural and realistic sound within your living area. It also has some great connectivity options including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and a whole lot more.
Sony also has its BRAVIA Theater Bar 6 which can also deliver high-fidelity sound backed by 3.1.2-channel configuration thanks to the included wireless 6.3” Bass Reflex Subwoofer.
It is important to keep physical media alive, especially disc-based formats. These offer infinitely better quality than any streaming service can provide. This is why I suggest grabbing a few snacks, some of her favorite movies, and the Panasonic DPUB820-K 4K UHD Blue-ray Player. It rests within the middle ground of Blue-ray players, offering fantastic 4K UHD playback with full HD to near-4K upscaling. There are some other neat features such as HDR10+ and Dolby Vision compatibility alongside mobile device mirroring and a whole other slew of nice to have additions.
Maybe the preferred way of engaging with media isn’t a TV with a sound bar. Maybe it is something a bit more compact. This is where we begin to get into the world of tablets. As the owner of an Apple 11” iPad Air with M4 chip, I can safely say that this is easily one of the best devices one could give. It is more advanced than the standard iPad and offers a ton of utility including a high-performance M4 chip, high quality screen resolution, 12MP cameras, and a whole lot more.
If a tablet of that level is a bit too advanced or maybe the mother in your life wants something more focused. This is where I can suggest something along the lines of the BOOX family of tablet e-readers. There are several different versions out there with the Palma 2 taking the world by storm. It measures around 6” which is around the size of a modern smartphone, but the aspect ratio is taller so you can easily pocket it.
The BOOX Go is wider, giving it more of a traditional e-reader look. Performance wise, it is a bit scaled down, but if all she is doing is reading books, this will be just fine. Finally, there is the BOOX 7” Go Color 7 Gen II which is a very long name for a device, but it happens to be one of the coolest that BOOX has made. It is a 7” tablet with a higher resolution screen which provides a splash of color! This is because it can do a bit more than the average e-reader with the ability to be used as a sketchpad when paired with an optional stylus.
The Gaming Mom
Some moms enjoy playing games of all types. From the casual, relaxing cozy game to the fast-paced competitive shooter and the best way to cheer her on is by giving her some cool new gear. If she likes to take her PC gaming on the go, the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally is one of the coolest devices someone can have in their bag! It is a powerful handheld PC that can handle a bunch of Xbox games as well as Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, GOG, and more! It features a 1920 x 1080 display with up to 120 Hz refresh rate for certain games. Definitely a must have for long trips and nights away from a computer rig.
Another great gift would be a monitor upgrade! If she is using a monitor that happens to have a VGA port, then it is time for the upgrade. One of my personal favorites that I can absolutely suggest is the ASUS ROG Strix OLED X32UCDS gaming monitor. I recently reviewed the monitor and found it exquisite! I loved the OLED panel, the multiple inputs, the 4K resolution, and the sheer size of it! I’ve also been a huge fan of LG’s displays, especially the UltraGear OLED 34GX900A-B, which is an ultrawide 1440p resolution display with a 240 Hz refresh rate and a curvature that provides a level of immersion.
A couple of final products for the gaming mom that I think are totally worthwhile include my personal favorite keyboard, the Keychron V1 Max, which is a wireless keyboard that can be customized! Change out the switches and keycaps as well as other internal parts for the best sound and typing experience! Otherwise, this is a fantastic keyboard right out of the box!
If she is into shooters or competitive online games, the Logitech G PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming mouse is also a fantastic addition! After I used it for some time, I found the mouse to be a true game changer by adding haptic feedback right into the buttons, delivering a unique feel! You can read more about my experience with it right here.
The Creative
Mothers who love drawing and painting may also love expressing their creativity upon a digital canvas. This is why I could suggest a handful of products such as Apple’s 13” iPad Pro with M5 chip. This large Ultra Retina XDR OLED display provides a high-resolution canvas suitable for drawing and performing detail-oriented tasks with a breeze. There are multiple storage configurations available allowing you to scale storage to what you think she would need. Pair this with the Apple Pencil Pro for the ultimate drawing experience.
Wacom also has a great selection of mobile drawing tablets with the 14” MovinkPad Pro which provides you with the tablet and stylus drawing experience on a high-resolution display. It has a large active area, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, and a microSD card slot so you can easily transfer your work from the device to your computer.
The Impecca 22” Smart Digital Photo Frame is a great way to show off artwork as well as photos of friends and family! The touchscreen display features a high-quality 1080p resolution suitable for both pictures and videos. Some other nice to have built into this frame is a set of 4W speakers, built-in Wi-Fi, an SD card reader, and a USB 2.0 port.
For digital users on a PC, I must suggest the Logitech MX Master 4. Not only does it feel great in the hand, but it offers a great amount of utility! A thumb rest area gives you access to a variety of specialty tools which change depending on the application being used. Of course, these tools can be customizable.
Aside from grip and tools, built-in haptic feedback makes this one of the best and unique drafting experiences I have ever used! There are plenty of buttons, a forever scroll wheel, and a powerful 8000 dpi Darkfield optical sensor. The MX Master 4 operates on both 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth LE wireless signals and can be synched to multiple devices for quick swapping!
When it comes to Mother’s Day, it could be difficult to get the one item she wants. If something on the list doesn’t directly speak to you, click on the link anyway and you can see a variety of other items so you can find the best gift! Otherwise, stick with B&H to see more!
