It's not every day that a piece of photography history passes through B&H. Sure, every camera and lens carries a little bit of the past with it, from a DSLR made in 2015 to an old rangefinder from the 50s. History lives in the images they've captured and the hands they've been passed through. That said, there are some cameras and lenses that stand out among the rest. Especially when they come bearing the serial numbers 0000001, 0000002, and 0000003.

Sony revives its compact, fixed-lens, full-frame camera line with the announcement of the RX1R III Digital Camera. Coming nearly a decade after the RX1R II, the new camera stuffs the Sony a7CR's high-resolution 61MP sensor and BIONZ XR processor into the same incredibly small form factor as its predecessor. It also boasts the same fixed Zeiss Sonnar T* 35mm f/2 lens, now strengthened by Sony's AI-powered autofocus, along with a redesigned top

The equipment used by fashion photographers varies considerably, depending on what is being photographed and who is behind the camera. In general, the kit requirements for documenting a fashion show are more standardized than those for creating editorials. There are successful fashion photographers who can fit all of their gear in a single bag—and others who require an entire equipment truck. This article is aimed at photographers getting started with fashion productions. Photographers interested in capturing runway should read Theanos Nikitas

What a week! The first Bild Expo just wrapped up here in New York City and it was a blast. There were presentations from more than 60 speakers, more than 130 exhibitors in the gear expo, numerous hands-on demos, and a long list of specials. Besides the show, B&H also took this time to celebrate its 50th Anniversary.

CES 2023 is dominating headlines this week, and it certainly seems like the show is returning to its pre-pandemic highs. For us, the most relevant bits revolve around photography and imaging tech, of which there is plenty to discuss. Panasonic takes top billing with the launch of the LUMIX S5 II series—its first camera with phase-detect autofocus. Nikon also got into the mix with lens announcements. Beyond that, we have some end-of-2022 news to catch up on quickly.
There is lots of fun to kick off the new year, so let's get into it.

It has probably happened to all of us—a missed photographic moment. We are photographers. We usually have a camera at the ready. But, for one reason or another, we miss a shot of a beautiful vista or a fleeting, but perfect, moment in time and we are left with nothing but the memory of the image that never was captured.
I asked my fellow B&H photographers, as well as our B&H Creative partners and affiliates, to share with us the heartbreaking story, or stories, of the photographs they have failed to capture.

Specular out-of-focus highlights have appeared in photographs since the first photos were taken through lenses. In 1997, Photo Techniques magazine introduced the word “bokeh” to the photography world’s vernacular and the out-of-focus areas of photographs have been scrutinized ever since. Before the term, there was certainly discussion about the aesthetics of the out-of-focus specular highlights of a photograph, but until 1997, there wasn’t a good word in the English language to describe the phenomenon. Ever since Polaroid withdrew from the market, numerous companies have tried to fill the huge gap left in the instant-photography world. Every year we are blessed with new options that continue to pop up, whether it is from established manufacturers, such as Fujifilm and Leica, or relative newcomers The Impossible Project, now Polaroid Originals, and Mint. When I got to CES, the last brand I thought would constantly surprise me was Kodak. The past few years have certainly been tough for the once renowned film manufacturer, but this year signaled the company is quickly getting back into the latest tech. This is evident in the release of new 360-degree cameras and even a brand new cryptocurrency called KODAKCoin. The manufacturer is definitely still feeling its roots, however,

Many of us were wishing for this day with little hope that it would ever come, but the Impossible Project has managed to bring back the original instant film name with its announcement today of Polaroid Originals.
