V-Flat World Partners with Karl Taylor to Create Light Cone Diffuser

Photographer Karl Taylor and V-Flat World have teamed up to create the Light Cone, a portable modifier designed to eliminate hot spots and reflections from still life and product photographs. Incredibly easy to use, the new light-shaping tool targets photographers and non-photographers alike, simplifying the capture of otherwise complicated items.

Anyone who has tried to photograph jewelry, electronics, or other shiny items knows how maddening reflective surfaces can be. Long gone are the days when Baroque painters added mirrors to their compositions to show off their artistic prowess. Today, most jewelry designers do not want selfies of the photographer who shot their product line included in their catalog. The Light Cone prevents this from happening.

The first thing that the Light Cone does is surround an object 360 degrees, creating a consistent, neutral reflection on shiny surfaces. The second thing the Light Cone does is diffuse light sources, combating hot spots and creating consistent lighting across reflections. Simply place the conical diffusion around your object, point your camera through the aperture on the top, and create the image.

The Light Cone comes in three sizes, depending on the item being photographed and the camera (or mobile device) being used. Each is available individually or as a complete set that includes all three sizes. It snaps into position with buttons and stores flat when not in use. It can be paired with a variety of light sources from studio strobes to incandescent lamps at home.
