Each complete system comprises a miniature USB receiver with a stand, at least one equally tiny transmitter with a built-in omni microphone, and a hard case for safe storage and transport. Single-transmitter systems can be had with a black or white transmitter; the two-person system comes with one of each color; and the four-person system has two of each color. For even more customization, the mic/transmitter units are separately available in not just black and white, but also in red, green, and blue. This allows extremely clear identification of different transmitters and lets you pick a color that will best blend with the subject’s clothing.
Erika's fully integrated, all-in-one design combines the mic, battery, and transmitter elements into an incredibly tiny form factor that attaches to your clothing via the supplied magnet. Plus, it is featherweight with long battery life (up to 24 hours at the default wireless power setting). You'll never have to worry about bodypacks, wires, buttons, menus, AA batteries, setup, or intrusive “mic-ups.” Rather than relying on a button for mute functionality, the mic/transmitter offers three very slick mute options—set it face down on a surface, rotate it so its USB port is facing down, or use the companion app to mute it (or all mics). You can even snag a handheld adapter to use the mic/transmitter unit for newsgathering or pass-the-mic interviews.
The entire Erika wireless mic system is simple to set up and easy to transport. The USB receiver plugs directly into your Mac/Windows/Chromebook computer and the mic wirelessly connects to the receiver via proprietary 2.4 GHz technology, which is designed to coexist with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Instant pairing and automatic channel selection ensure that you don't have to concern yourself with manual configuration.
Auto gain control with an integrated limiter ensures optimal audio levels free of hassle, and the transmission power is adjustable to optimize battery life or range. When using multiple mics with a single receiver, the system's dynamic mic switching ensures that only one mic is heard at a time, significantly reducing overall noise. Currently, Erika supports up to four mics with a single receiver, and a firmware update planned for the future will raise that to a maximum of 12 mics. Remember, regardless of how many mic/transmitter units are in use, the receiver will pass audio from one mic at a time, not all mics simultaneously.
When you utilize the companion app, special and highly useful functions are unlocked. See all connected mics at once along with their battery levels, an audio meter, and mute buttons for each mic and all at once. What’s more is that you can even name mics, admit new “participants,” and lock any one of the mics.
