With so many speakers on the market, it’s always intriguing to see a new company doing something fresh with their monitors. Founded by a team of professionals from the world of pro audio, Kali Audio is an American company that designs and engineers its products in Southern California, and plans to name each product line after a different locale in the great Golden State. Though you may not be familiar with the name Kali Audio, its staff has been integral to the production of highly successful loudspeaker products throughout the last 30 years. Since they coordinate with others in the various entertainment industries, they stay tuned in to the ever-changing needs and trends.
A range of studio monitors dubbed “Project Lone Pine,” Kali Audio’s first line of products gets its name from Lone Pine, a small town commonly found by climbers as they start their trek up Mt. Whitney. The Project Lone Pine monitors are all about helping creative minds realize their visions without draining all their funds. So, if you’ve got the urge to make something special and you need speakers that’ll aid you on your quest, make Project Lone Pine a priority.
For compact- to small-sized rooms, Kali Audio created the LP-6, available in black or white. Driven by 80W RMS of Class-D amplification, this active 2-way monitor features a 6.5" woofer a 1" soft-dome tweeter working together to produce a 47 Hz to 21 kHz frequency response. The transducers are mounted in a ported, shielded MDF cabinet with a 3-D imaging waveguide, resulting in transparency, low distortion, and impressive dynamic range for sonic performance you can trust during those critical recording and mixing decisions. Inputs include unbalanced RCA, balanced XLR, and balanced 1/4" TRS. With high- and low-frequency trims, eight boundary EQ settings tuned at the Village Studios in Los Angeles, and adjustable volume, you can easily optimize the LP-6 for your unique space.
If you work in a larger room and need a louder speaker that goes even lower in the bass register, the black LP-8 is for you. Like the LP-6, it utilizes Class-D amplification, but ups the power to 100W RMS. An 8" woofer is used instead of the 6.5" model found in the LP-6, which extends the low-frequency response to 45 Hz. All other features offered on the LP-6 are also present on the LP-8, so you lose nothing (except some space on your desk or stands) by going with the bigger speaker.
Regardless of whether you work on music, podcasts, audiobooks, or audio for film, video, TV, and gaming, the Kali Audio monitors aim to provide a sound you can rely on. Learn more about them at the B&H SuperStore or our website!
