Summer Adventure Week

Adventure has always presented itself as an avenue of nosy exploration into worlds I knew very little about. It was a spark of curiosity and wonder that swept me, at a very early age, into the unknown. Kentucky has many natural wonders to explore, but my favorite growing up were a set of abandoned river stone steps buried deep in my backyard, compacted by fermented leaves, slick twigs, salamanders, and clouds of mosquitos. Days were spent excavating these steps with my Mom’s garden shovel, and a paint brush, and the collection of fossilized

FUJIFILM’s series of INSTAX Mini cameras have been some of the most popular cameras of the past few years, despite their being instant film cameras. There is the simple pleasure of producing a physical print after each photo you take; it’s a unique keepsake of the moment. But for those times when uniqueness might not be the ultimate requirement, when you want to be able to share your images with others, there’s the INSTAX Mini LiPlay

One of the most notable announcements from WWDC 2019, even including the reveal of the new Mac Pro, was the announcement of iOS 13 and iPadOS. Hear that? iPad is getting its own distinct operating system that will bring enhanced capabilities. What kind of changes, you ask? This overhaul will transform the iPad into its most powerful iteration yet, and iPadOS brings it one step closer to being a laptop replacement for many, including me.

Filters are common in landscape photography. They help photographers craft images that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. For example, filters can cut reflections that are impossible to remove, permit longer exposures or wider apertures, and even provide a boost to the contrast of an image. Aerial photographers using drones should understand what filters are available and which they can use to get the best possible photos and video. Drone Filters Are

We took the DJI Osmo Action Camera to Colorado for #AdventureWeek to find out how steady RockSteady Mode really is. We tested it while hiking up the Manitou Incline's 2,768 steps, sand boarding, and even rafting on some Class IV rapids. So, did the DJI Osmo Action's RockSteady Mode pass our tests? Let us know in the Comments section, below! Be sure to check back on B&H Explora for more of

Pop on a pair of (decent) sunglasses and not only are your eyes less strained, things just look better. The reason for this is likely the polarization effect. Colors may appear more saturated, bright blue skies can take on a deeper hue, and some pesky reflections just vanish. All of these can benefit certain photographs and make the circular polarizer filter one of the best—and most difficult—filters to use.  Exactly What Does a Polarizer Do? It’s both simple

Even in the crowded photography market, there are still underserved areas that deserve attention. Tamron seems to understand this better than most with its latest f/2.8 zoom for full-frame E-mount cameras, the 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Lens, which offers excellent quality at an excellent price and in a small, lightweight package—it's also a perfect match for the much-loved

For this year’s Adventure Week, we decided to bring along one of the most talked-about action cameras of the year: the DJI Osmo Action. Lauded for its innovative design and excellent RockSteady video stabilization, the Action has received an overwhelming amount of praise. But can it really live up to all the hype? We brought it to Colorado to find out. Awesome Design Times Two One

When I was asked to join the fun of B&H’s Adventure Week, I was tasked with deciding on which camera to bring. I needed to photograph everything from striking scenery to some fast-paced action, and I needed a portable system to bring on crawls up mountains and hikes over sand dunes. Maybe not the expected choice, but I opted for the brand-new Hasselblad X1D II 50C, a

For underwater photographers, the demands of shooting are huge: travel costs, lugging all that equipment, finding a suitable locale—the list goes on. But those demands might soon change, thanks to WeFine, a company in Shenzhen, China, that has partnered with Dive+ and Kraken Sports to produce a specialized Smart Housing that fits almost every Bluetooth-enabled smartphone on the market. The Smart Housing works in tandem with the

"Alright, your time in flight will be approximately twelve minutes." Berty and I swallowed that weighted sentence and nervously nodded in response. Smiles were on the outside, but deep inside we were wondering how in the world we were going to make the most of those fleeting seconds in that helicopter and capture exactly what we wanted from the sky! Aerial photography can be exciting and exhilarating. But it can also come with a lot of added challenges, such as time limits, weather conditions, and—let's be real—a large expense! (Flights aren't
