Tripods for Every Scenario with Oben and Robus

Moving from Stills to Video: Audio, Audio, Audio
by Shawn C. Steiner · Posted 10/20/2025
Audio is extremely important. Photographers haven’t really had to worry about this, but it is something that can make or break your videos. The Essential Steps to Building a Kondor Blue Camera Rig
The Essential Steps to Building a Kondor Blue Camera Rig
by Zack Young · Posted 08/20/2024
Compact mirrorless cameras have revolutionized the video world, packing massive sensors into small bodies and making professional-level production accessible to budget-minded creatives. Aspiring filmmakers can now achieve a level of visual detail, color fidelity, and exposure control that previously could only be achieved with cameras that cost six figures. Camera Supports for Unique-Angle Camera Positioning
by Allan Weitz · Posted 12/04/2020
Before heading out on assignment, I make a mental checklist of the gear I will be needing, and camera supports are always on that list. Depending on where and what I plan to photograph, I might take a mid- or full-size tripod and be done with it. If I anticipate taking low-angle photographs, I will also pack along a tabletop-size tripod and, for ground-level shooting, one of my Platypods. Truth is, if I have the space, I take all three options, because if I leave any of these options behind, I know I will need it when I get where I’m going.

by Steven Gladstone · Posted 03/24/2020
Entry level, starter kit, beginner. The words evoke the idea of something inexpensive that you start with and grow out of quickly. But it doesn’t have to be that way. I’m looking for room to grow, because what is the point of getting something now, if I’m going to have to pay more to buy a new version next year? Audio A good mic is important, especially when you are doing everything yourself without a sound recordist. The

You've been recording with your great new action camera—maybe a GoPro, Osmo Action, or one of the many action cameras available—but the included accessories may not be very helpful as you try to enhance your production. The good news is: there is a ridiculous number of accessories you can purchase. The bad news is: there may be too many to choose from. While you can probably find basic accessories from the manufacturer of your camera, there are many third-party manufacturers making creative and useful accessories for action cameras. Let's look

Photography Accessories for Your iPad
by Todd Vorenkamp · Posted 02/21/2019
Most of us know that the iPad is a powerful photographic and filmmaking tool. Whether you are using it for post-processing, image sharing, camera control, storage, live view monitoring, or just for taking photos, the iPad is finding a home in the camera bags of many photographers. If it has one shortcoming, however, it may be the fixed-focal-length lens that only features digital zoom. But, if you consider the built-in iPad camera just a part of a larger lens system, you can
