The Tilta FIZ Lens Control System is Powerful, Flexible, and Easy to Use

If you aren’t first, then you have to be special, and the Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless Lens Control System is something special. Following in the Tilta tradition of providing polished professional gear, the Nucleus-M is well thought out, and it provides two different wireless control options for different shooting styles. Supporting a maximum range of 1,000', it is unlikely to lose signal connection during regular use, but the extreme range does allow for peace of mind while working on shoots ranging from crowded interiors to large exteriors.

The handwheel lets you control the lens for traditional shooting when you have an AC to control focus, iris, and zoom (FIZ). It is a single piece that integrates three distinct controls, each well suited for a specific axis. The focus wheel is large and features a removable marking disk, while the built-in zoom rocker is on the side, out of the way of the focus wheel, yet easily accessible while pulling focus. On the opposite side of the zoom rocker sits the iris wheel, ready for you to set the iris or to create iris pulls.

When shooting by yourself, two included handgrips provide you with the same control as the separate handwheel, with the left handgrip providing focus control, and the right handgrip controlling zoom and iris control. As with the handwheel, there is a 1,000' range, and you can split the control between the handwheel and the handgrips. The handwheel will override the handgrips, which allows your AC to adjust focus, iris, or zoom, with the handwheel, even while you are using the handgrips for control. Each motor has its own receiver, eliminating the need, weight, and bulk of a receiver distribution box mounted on your camera. The motors support up to 20 wireless channels, and more than one motor can share a channel without interfering with each other. They come with cine-standard 0.8 MOD gears, built-in 19mm rod clamps, and the included 15mm bushings enable mounting your motors on 15mm rods instead.

So, if you are looking at a wireless FIZ system, for functionality, versatility, and usability the Tilta Nucleus-M may just be what you are looking for. Is it? Chime in below.
