Celestron Powerseeker 80 AZS overview

  • 1Description

The PowerSeeker 80AZ 80mm f/5 AZ Refractor Telescope from Celestron is designed as an entry-level telescope for wide-field viewing of bright deep space objects, planets, and the moon. Its 80mm objective lens and 400mm focal length give it respectable light gathering and magnification potential, while keeping the size and weight manageable. The manual alt-azimuth mount and 5x24 finderscope makes finding objects as easy as point-and-aim.

The scope comes with an eyepiece that produces a magnification 20x, and the 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser will accept any optional 1.25" eyepiece or accessory. For comfortable astronomical viewing, or to use it as a spotting scope, there is an included 90° erect-image diagonal to correctly orientate the subject horizontally and vertically in the field of view. To aid in terrestrial viewing, the mount has an altitude locking bar that holds the scope in place allowing you to more easily track subjects as they move. The aluminum tripod has independently adjustable legs for precise leveling on uneven terrain, and comes with a removable accessory tray.

    Celestron Powerseeker 80 AZS reviews

PowerSeeker 80AZ 80mm f/5 AZ Refractor Telescope is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Teaching Tool This telescope was purchased by me for two very seperate reasons. I personally want it for photograph, and I also bought it to loan to a friend for a short while to see if the daughter really' is interested in the stars and the sky. She is a very precocious 8 year old and the process of determing the depth and staying power of her interest is on going. Preliminary remarks are all very positive. My use in photography will wait a little while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Gift Bought this for my husband for Christmas, he had a telescope in the past but he is not advanced in this area. He was is so excited and is so happy this telescope is a lot better than the one he had. Also I loved how easy it was to find what I was looking for with this company. They made it so easy to find the right telscope. Thank you so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beginners scope This is great for a beginners scope and the AZ mount is very easy to use. I just used Sky Map app on my phone to find the planets then use the finder scope to align the scope then adjust the focuser and BOOM "Hello Saturn".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for begginers Bought it for my wife and she love it, basic enough for an adult, may be not for kid without supervision. Great product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bargain for beginners Excellent beginners telescope and great for camping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth a Look Great refractor telescope for the beginner. Offered with either an EQ or azimuth mount. I chose the latter simply for ease of setup and use especially when i just want to take a quick look at the night sky. The EQ mount has additional advantages including allowing the user to manually track objects but would require a few more steps such as balancing the scope etc.
