I'm looking at some CFL Bulbs that are 45W but they are 3" in diameter. Will they fit if using all 7 in the fixture?
Asked by: Gary
It is difficult to say as B&H uses slightly smaller than 3" 32W Florescent bulbs in this fixture. 3" might just fit but it depends in part on the shape of the base as well. If it is narrower at the base it may work.

How do you calculate the wattage? eg. if it says 60W using only 14w or 30w/70w/100w using only 12w/19w/28w etc
Asked by: Ernest
The Raya Octa Fluorescent 7 Socket Fixture can only use a total up to 350 watts power. So the lamps can not use more than 50 watts each.

I was recently given one of these, can you use LED lamps or do you have to use CFL's?
Asked by: Jeffrey
If there are no active electronics in this unit, that is, simply power supply to each socket, it doesn't really make sense that LED bulbs cannot be used -- since this is basically the same setup with any home table or ceiling lamp... and, obviously, you can use either CFL, LED, or even incandescent bulbs (provided that it's within the power consumption range, and heat dissipation is accounted for -- LEDs run cooler than CFLs.... Am I missing something? Btw, CFL Bulbs are being phased out it seems.

question

Does this include the softbox, stand, etc? Someone mentioned the stand was of decent quality but I don't see one listed.
Asked by: Anonymous
You have to look for the kit that includes this item. Yes, the stands are quite substantial. Search for rays kit . Sorry for the slow reply.

question

Can 4x85w or 3x105w bulbs be used safely in this lamp ? I'd like to reach the max rating of 350w, but 50w bulbs seem hard to find and/or very expensive. thank you
Asked by: Anonymous
They are $2 each which is cheap, and they last for years which is a good value. They work very well. I would not change the bulb type at all, ever. Do a search for CFL bulbs 5000K 50W and you will see how easy they are to buy.
