This item gave me range that is great. The added weight is worth it. Must have secure stabilization for effective use. See pictures published with other review.

Happy with the purchase

First, understand the impacts/compromises you'll have to make before purchasing. You will lose light x2, and yes, the focus will be noticeably slower. If you understand and accept these facts, you'll be happy. I use this on their 500mm F4, and I'm ecstatic rockin 1000mm @ F8 under the right conditions. The IQ is good and the focus isn't that slow if you have contrast in your frame. This is really true for many teleconverters. It is a worthwhile purchase being a wildlife photographer; I've successfully shot under cloudy dim conditions capturing wall hangers I'd previously have to super-crop to achieve.

Asked by: JACQUES
The Sigma TC-2001 2x Teleconverter for Nikon F will only fit a few select Sigma brand lenses. There are no teleconverters made for the Nikon 28-300mm lens. Instead you can buy a longer lens such as the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Nikon F: B&H # SI1506005CN MFR # 745-306.

I have an original 120-300 f2.8, probably the first version of that lens. Do you know if this teleconverter (or even the 1.4) will work on this old lens?
Asked by: Rick
The Sigma TC-2001 2x Teleconverter for Nikon F would only be compatible for use with the current Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports Lens for Nikon F. It would not be compatible for use with the original Sigma APO 120-300mm F2.8 EX IF HSM Lens, the Sigma APO 120-300mm F2.8 EX DG HSM Lens, or the Sigma APO 120-300mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Lens. The correct teleconverter for the older 120-300mm lens was the Sigma APO Teleconverter 2x EX DG for Nikon F, B&H # SI2XDGNAF • MFR # 876306, which has unfortunately been discontinued and is no longer available. If you are looking for a third-party option that would be compatible for your usage needs, the Kenko TELEPLUS HD DGX 2x Teleconverter for Nikon F-Mount G/E Type Lenses, B&H # KEKTPHD2.0N, may also work as an alternative for your usage needs.

The teleconverter is only compatible with the Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 Sports Lens, Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Sports Lens and the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens. There is no teleconverter from sigma that will be compatible with your current lens.
