Magnus PV-7451M Tripod with Pan/Tilt Head Reviews

Great bargain tripod!

I have purchased cheap tripods before and had trouble with flimsy feel and difficult to use clamps and base plate. This tripod is very solid and easy to use. Multiple adjustments for movement, height and angles. When finally set up, it is rock solid. Easily the best value tripod I have ever purchased.

Very sturdy

This tripod is light for its sturdiness. It's easy to use and comes with a case.

Good balance between price-quality+weight-sturdiness

Pros: I have found in the Magnus PV-7451M Tripod/Monopod a great balance between price and quality, not too expensive nor too light but sturdy enough. With the instant savings I got two of them for less than one hundred bucks, plus I got also a couple of Magnus PV-74 quick release mounts for less than ten bucks each, so I may have them installed in other cameras and have even more flexibility. With two tripods and two quick release mounts, I can move easier. Cons: Joint between quick release mount tilts a little bit with my Sony a850+70-210mm lens, this not happen with my a6000+55-210, of course, the former is quite heavy, the later very light. I consider that this ia good purchase even at regular price. Grab a couple of quick release mounts, you wont regret it.

Tall, sturdy tripod

I use this tripod for my DSLR video production, which is largely in one place. It's a bit heavy for any run and gun work, but it's great for the work I do. I also like how tall it gets.

This tripod has no quality control

By Andrew

This tripod has no quality control, along with all the engineering flaws mentioned in the other reviews. The 3/8-16 threads were molded into the PV-7451M head at a diagonal angle, so the head doesn't sit level on the tripod, and even if you adjust the legs to level it, it will be cockeyed once you pan, which kind of defeats the purpose of a tripod. Prior to replacing my defective tripod under warranty, Magnus required me to send a video proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that the tripod was defective, but unlike most companies, they made me pay to ship the defective unite back, instead of emailing me a prepaid return shipping label. I’m not happy about that, as I’m effectively subsidizing Magnus due to their lack of a quality control department. I got the tripod on sale for $50, and it’s not even worth that; you’re much better off paying more money for something decent like a Davis & Sanford tripod.

Great item for the price

I've not had any problems with this item. It is pretty steady, easy to set up and not too heavy to carry around. I like it because you can also use it to record video and also stabilize it to take still shots.

Tripod is ten times better than what I had

This tripod holds my Vortex well and is much sturdier than most.

Big Beefy Tripod

The size and weight makes this suitable for studio or field use - although you definitely won't want to take it hiking. Whatever wiggle problems the mounting plate had in the past no longer exist. The padded carrying bag is of nice quality, too. The only weakness I see is the hole through which the tripod head tightening bolt screws has plastic threads. They could become stripped if too much pressure is applied when tightening down the tripod head. At the B&H sale price, I'm happy with my purchase.
