Designed as a complete microphone setup for location recording in film work, broadcasting, electronic news gathering (ENG), and field production applications with HDSLRs and camcorders, this B&H Kit eliminates the guesswork in configuring a shotgun microphone system that delivers warm, natural tone, switchable audio settings, and low handling noise. It features the Rode NTG4+ battery-/phantom-powered shotgun microphone, a deluxe windshield, a universal shoe/pole shockmount, a pistol grip, an aluminum cabled boompole, a boompole bag, a short XLR cable, and a short XLR to 3.5mm cable to provide you with everything necessary for capturing audio for video, film, and sound design applications.

Specialized features such as low-noise circuitry, digitally switchable pad and frequency settings, and minimal handling noise reduce the need to repair and restore audio in post production.
The elevated sensitivity of the NTG4+ allows it to produce strong output levels without having to apply extreme gain at your mic preamp. Sonically, the NTG4+ delivers warm sound due in part to its gentle dip in high frequencies and its rumble-reducing selectable low-cut filter. A switchable treble boost is on hand for situations where additional clarity is needed.The Auray DUSM-1 Universal Shockmount features a four-point suspension to accommodate shotgun and other cylindrical microphones measuring 0.74-0.98" (19-25mm) in diameter. The shockmount is easily angled with its rubberized adjustment knob. There is a built-in shoe for camera mounting, and a 3/8"-16 thread connection at the base mounts the shockmount to boompoles and universal handgrips.
The Rode WS6 Deluxe Windshield provides excellent noise protection against high wind and adverse weather conditions. The slip-on design of the WS6 features dimensions that accommodate the Rode NTG4, NTG4+, NTG2 and NTG1 microphones; as well as any shotgun or stereo mic with a length of 6.25" (160.5mm) and diameter of 0.88" (22.5mm).
An internal, coiled cable with a side-exit XLR connector makes it easy to extend or retract the boompole while streamlining your setup with fewer cables to carry. The custom, removable head tip and drop-through design allow for cable reconfiguration without any soldering required. High-quality Rean and Neutrik connectors are used for reliable signal transfer and uncompromised performance, even in challenging environments.
The durable anodized aluminum construction can handle the bumps and impacts of demanding travel and location shoots in all kinds of weather.
Solid Grip and Smooth Telescoping
- The ergonomic twist locks are covered with rubber grips that are easy on your hands and comfortable to operate, making length adjustment smooth and effortless. Improved shims ensure a firm and secure hold until you loosen the locks.
Anti-Twist Alignment Tubing for One-Handed Operation
- Quick length adjustment when you're recording on the go is crucial for keeping from interrupting the shoot. With an anti-twist design, adjacent tubes won't twist when you're expanding or retracting the boompole. This allows for one-handed twist lock operation and makes setup and length adjustment fast and easy.
- The integrated, coiled XLR cable is engineered to minimize unwanted radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic (EM) interference that can degrade the audio signal. The coiled design allows the cable to smoothly extend and retract with the telescoping tubes.
- The tip's strain-relief system absorbs tension, secures the cable, and protects the cable from damage at the edges of the tip exit. Additional strain relief at the bottom of the pole protects and preserves the connections between the cable and the TA3 connector.
Bottom-Exit Connector
- With a right-angle XLR cable plugged into the bottom-exit connector, the operator can rest the pole on its end without damaging the wiring or connector.
- BP Series boompoles feature a removable Arrowhead tip designed to reduce weight at the top of the pole.
- The tip also allows easy drop-through cable insertion for quick and uncomplicated cable replacement.
- Thanks to the solderless design, you won't need special tools to replace the XLR cable using the cable replacement kit (available separately).
- The internal cable is equipped with high-quality XLR and TA3 (mini XLR) connectors manufactured by Rean. The connectors ensure flawless signal transfer and secure locking connections, preventing the cable from disconnecting, even if there's stress or an accidental tug on the cable.
- The Neutrik bottom-exit connector is housed in its own casing and ensures a secure connection to the boompole that won't jeopardize signal flow by twisting or jiggling.
Standard 3/8"-16 Threaded Mount
- The boompole is outfitted with a standard 3/8"-16 threaded mount to ensure compatibility with most professional shotgun mics and shockmounts.
The black Kopul Premium Performance 3000 Series XLR M to Angled XLR F Microphone Cable (20') is designed to be an extremely quiet and flexible cable that is ideal for the most demanding live sound and performance applications. The Kopul LMT100 cable simply enables a microphone or mic-level device to be input into a high-impedance 3.5mm mini input found on DSLRs, camcorders, and other devices. It is 1.5' long and has a 3-pin XLR female connector on one end and a standard 3.5mm mini plug on the other. It is designed for use with mono microphones.
The Auray Neoprene Boompole Bag for 34" Closed Boompole with Shotgun Mic and Softie is a case designed to hold up to a 34" closed boompole with shotgun microphone, softie, and shock mount. Its interior end cap is strengthened to protect the bag from punctures. It features a zipper closure with protective interior lining to prevent snags and scratches. The bag is built with an interior pocket for accessories that opens or closes with hook and loop fasteners. An adjustable shoulder strap is included with a nametag holder.
The Auray Universal Microphone Pistol Grip is a handheld grip that features an ergonomic cushioned handle. This grip is great in "run & gun" situations in which a boom pole would be cumbersome, and in video scenarios in which the cameraman is also responsible for audio recording. The grip can be held with one hand, as opposed to a boom pole which requires two. It also provides the option of being able to record audio from a different direction than the camera is pointing, an advantage over camera mounting the mic. Furthermore, having the mic mounted off the camera prevents it from picking up motor noise from the lens focusing.
In addition, the grip features standard 3/8" threads on both ends. This allows you to attach your shotgun mic (with shockmount) to one end of the grip and mount the other end to a boom pole. This gives you the flexibility of being able to quickly detach the pistol grip and the attached shotgun mic from the boom, an option that can come in handy for entering areas that are too small for a boom pole.
