Crown Audio XLi 3500 Overview

Designed for musicians, DJs, entertainers, houses of worship, discos, and other venues, the Crown XLi 3500 Stereo Power Amplifier feature both RCA and XLR inputs as well as speakON and binding post outputs. The amplifier includes a user-selectable input sensitivity of 0.755V or 1.4V, stereo/parallel-bridge-mono modes, power/fault/signal presence/clip LED indicators, forced-air cooling, and protection against shorts, no-load, on/off thumps, and interference from radio frequencies in the environment.

my 3rd Crown amp, great performing amp

My 3rd Crown amp. Also have the 1500 & 2500 XLi series. All are great little amps in 19 rack 2U form. Solid performers, neutral sounding, plenty of reserve power, versatile with balanced & unbalanced inputs (RCA, XLR, 1.775 & 1.4v settings). 4 & 8 ohm outputs, parallel and bridge mode (8 ohm). Even when pushed hard, they don't get hot. Variable speed fan forced air cooling (front to rear). Although my equipment is in an equipment room where noise isn't a problem, the fans are virtually inaudible - so they could be used in a home theater application where fan noise could be an issue. Using the 3500 in bridged mode (2700W) driving a 21 sub. More than adequate power for my needs. Very pleased with the XLi Crown amps, all bought from BH Photo video (GREAT service!). No complaints other than the units are assembled in China, but almost everything is these days. So far, very impressed with Crown.

It will get warm to touch which is normal: Internal heat sinks with forced air. Fan cooled, speed regulated, thermal protection

On the XLi series amplifiers the fans do operate when the unit is idle. They may even increase in speed once the unit reaches a specific operating temperature. I generally recommend the amplifiers be housed in a closed rack enclosure to mitigate fan noise if the unit is going to be housed in the listening space.

the back of the amplifier shows power rating as 220 volts - not 120
