Oben AC-1441 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-111 Ball Head

The Oben AC-1441 4-Section Aluminum Tripod with BA-111 Ball Head provides reliable support for DSLRs, point-and-shoot cameras or video cameras up to 11 lb.

The tripod's three-section legs are fabricated from high tensile strength aluminum. It rises to a maximum height of 61.6" with the center column fully extended and folds down to a compact 21.3" for transport. Flip locks on the legs facilitate rapid setup and break down. Three leg angles: normal (80°), low (55°) and extra low (24°) are available via angle adjustment tabs at the joint of each leg. You can reverse the column with a twist of the butterfly knob or split it in two and use the short column for macro and low angle shooting as low as 8.3" from the ground. Any combination of leg angles can be combined to accommodate uneven terrain, stairs or obstructions. A built-in bubble level helps you square up your compositions. For extra stability, the center column employs a spring-loaded counterbalance hook.

The included BA-111 ball head features a single-action knob that controls its rotation and 360 degree panning while a robust ball-locking mechanism secures it solidly. The head's four bubble levels ensure accurate panoramas. The BA-111's built-in quick release comes with a camera plate that features a standard 1/4"-20 screw and a retractable, removable video pin to provide additional stability for camcorders. Since the head is removable, locking screws underneath the collar thwart torsion when re-attaching. The tripod comes with a carry case and shoulder strap for storage and transport.

A spring-loaded counterweight hook is located at the bottom of the center column. The column can be separated into two parts to give you a short column for low angle and macro work
Leg cushions on two legs provide a firm grip in cold or wet weather
Two included hex keys attach to a tripod leg, so you're always ready to tighten components
Padded carry bag provides a snug fit for the tripod/head combination and features two heavy-duty zippers, an interior pocket with a zipper, and a shoulder strap
Angle adjustment locks keep legs at the chosen angles
Center column is grooved to prevent rotation
Angled rubber feet for maximum contact with the ground
Tripod features reversible 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 screw to fit almost any head

Honestly this is the best camera bag I've ever had. Ruggedly built. Well padded interior with thick separators. Deep interior. Loads of pockets and compartments for peripherals. Space for a second telephoto lens. Excellent value for money.

This is my first Ruggard bag and let me just say, these bags are built like a tank! Even the oversized zippers are heavy-duty! Keep in mind that these bags are deeper than others I've owned. My 105mm macro and my 55-250mm lens were a little to tall to set vertical and horizontal they're a little shallow so I used a couple of velcro dividers to hold them down.

Pro: Will, in fact, carry 70-200 + camera + other lenses. Lots of configuration options: you'll have to spend some time puzzling it out. Perfect for overhead airplane compartments. Con: Due to the way the inside compartment dividers are (mis) designed, it turns out to be nearly impossible to set this up for the camera to be connected to that lens and protected. Specific issues: 1) the dividers running the length of the bag are not anchored to the bottom of the bag, so you're going to lose some space working yourself out of that one. 2) Let's say you want the open the bag and immediately take out your camera and 70-200. That seems to be a challenge I cannot puzzle out. However, if you're good with puzzles, I'd think this would not be a problem. I'm not good at puzzles like this.

Well Constructed Backpack

This is an amendment to my earlier evaluation of the Ruggard Thunderhead 35. I had complained previously of not being able to get a proper adjustment. While that is still somewhat true, it is adjustable beyond my early attempts. The padding still seems excessive thus making it difficult to put on. For an all-day backpack for hiking (something I'll not be doing), it seems like it will fall short of perfect. On the positive side, the bag is large enough to hold a Sony a7II, 4 lens, flash, cleaning kit, and spare batteries and charger. Additional pockets offer plenty of space for computer cards, a notepad, and numerous misc stuff I find I need for time to time. There's plenty of adjustable padding in the main compartment to protect your gear. The outside seems to be somewhat water resistant, but the built-in rain cover is a nice feature. My only concern with the exterior is the top handle. It seems a bit small for the size and weight of the bag and contents. The handle was not an issue my previous Ruggard Thunderhead 15, but it didn't carry the weight of the larger bag. Overall, this is a good backpack that more than fills my needs. It may not be the perfect bag for full time use.

Well made, albeit Overly Padded Backpack

I've owned several Ruggard products in the past. For my use (i.e., organizing my camera, lens, & other accessories) they're a good backpack that holds up well. Good padding inside helps keep the equipment safe and clean. Unlike the Thunderhead 15 which is a comfortable small pack to put on your back, the Thunderhead 35 has an overabundance of padding when using it as a backpack. This is both a blessing and a curse. I have to qualify my appraisal, I haven't had the pack very long, but as yet I haven't been able to get comfortable with it on my back because of what I would call excessive padding and the positioning on my back. The shoulder straps are comfortable enough but tend to slip off the shoulders unless the strap on the front is fastened, which will hold them in place. The problem is that the front strap is located too high and fastens across the throat area rather than the chest. As a result, the waste strap has to ride too high and not positioned on the hips where it should be. Fortunately for my use, I usually just throw it over the should like a sling bag. On the positive side, it appears to be a well-made backpack that easily holds my Sony a7ii, four lens, a flash, cleaning kit + batteries & charger and other accessories.

The waist belt is not removable but it is hide-away. So you can tuck the strap into the back if you do not wish to use it.

question

Hi, the description states that the bag can house a DSLR, 70-200mm, 3 Lenses, Flash but the 2 pictures showing the inside seem to show that the bag is able to accommodate a DSLR with 70-200mm attached, 4 or 5 additional lenses and a flash. Can you please confirm, is the description not accurate or the pictures are misleading? Thank you,Tony

question

I have a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens. Will it fit either attached to the Nikon D5300 or without it?
Asked by: Thomas G.
The internal camera and lens compartments are completely customizable, so you can open the center to allow for a long lens. Your sigma is 10.2 long according to the specs... With my canon rebel in the top, I have 10.5-11 left to the bottom of the bag for a lens.
