    Ruggard PBB-255B reviews

Thunderhead 55 DSLR & Laptop Backpack (Black) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thunderhead 55 Rugged Absolutely Rocks I use this Ruggard backpack for all my camera supplies. This unit stores all my new Canon camera equipment, tripods and GO PRO camera's and accessories. I finally found a unit that stores everything in one location. I have five large lenses and four GO PRO cameras with every possible accessory known to GO PRO. I spend 12 weeks a year outside filming in the wilderness. My equipment must be rugged and durable. This Thunderhead 55 DSLR & Laptop Backpack is the ultimate answer. My laptop has total protection rain, wind or shine in the outdoors. I would give this unit 5 stars any day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy I looked at the more well-known alternatives to this backpack, some of which were considerably more expensive. But I liked the overall design and features of this bag better. So, I finally took a chance and ordered this one. I could not be happier with my choice. The quality is excellent, the layout perfect for my needs and it rides comfortably on my back. If you are unfamiliar with this brand, as I was, I think you will find it worth a very close look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bunch of room I used this on a recent trip to the Grand Canyon and carried a Canon 7D MKII with grip, a Canon 100-400 IS II, a Canon 16-35 f4 and a Tamron 24-135 f3.5-5.6 as well as a monopod, flash and had room left over. It is large and can get heavy when loaded, but will handle about anything you throw at it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bag, but... I've taken this bag out on 4 photo excursions. On each excursion, I packed 2 DSLRs, 4 lenses (20-35mm zoom, 28-70mm zoom, 100mm fixed, 200mm fixed), 1 pair of 10x42 binoculars, and some odds and ends. I packed one camera with the 28-70mm attached and the other with the 200mm attached. Total weight came to about 20 lb. The bag accommodated all my gear very well and allowed easy access to everything. However, the plastic belt buckle broke on the first day out (a plastic prong broke off -- I subsequently replaced the buckle with a more sturdy buckle from a hiker's backpack that I own). In addition, I'm concerned that the shoulder straps are not hefty enough to support a pack that is designed to accommodate 25-30 lb of gear. So far, the shoulder straps have not failed, but I am concerned that one might tear loose, and I make it a point to inspect the shoulder straps carefully each time I get back home from an excursion, looking for signs of failure. The literature that came with the bag states that the bag is rugged with major stress point reinforcement, but the shoulder straps and the points where the straps are sewn onto the bag are not nearly as rugged or as reinforced as the straps on my (nonphotography) hiker's backpack. Other than concerns about the straps coming loose, I'm very happy with the bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality The quality of this bag more than exceeds my expectations. It is very well built from head to toe. It has a wide variety of pockets and storage compartments which makes it really convenient when organizing your gear. There are pockets for pretty much everything. I have not had any long treks with it yet, however, you will notice right away that the back, waist and shoulder straps are very well padded. Looking forward to using this pack to bring all my gear on my upcoming trips to California and Europe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Durable and Heavy Solid construction, lots of storage space. I use it primarily for storage or travel. Heavy to carry on a long hike for a shoot, and doesn't have a water bladder for longer hikes/shoots. As much room as it has, longer/bigger telephoto lenses don't fit well with all other gear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tons of Space This pack is huge, can hold a large collection of gear, and seems to be very well-made, especially for the price. I made a big mistake, not checking the dimensions carefully, and the pack is much too bulky for me to carry on a trip around Europe, but that's MY fault, and no fault of the bag. I'm keeping it to use for storage. For anyone wanting to travel light, with maybe just one camera body and 2 or 3 lenses, I would suggest looking at their smaller packs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big but nice. Very spacious room for all your gear. Comfortable to wear and easy to get equipment out. With the many pull out compartments it is very easy to curtomize for your equipment.
