Ideal for traveling and hiking, this black, water-repellent Thunderhead 55 DSLR & Laptop Backpack from Ruggard holds a DSLR with a grip and an attached zoom telephoto lens up to 10", 7 more lenses and a flash between padded touch-fastened dividers inside a spacious main compartment. This bag is packed with pockets of all sizes, and one of them is a dedicated compartment which will hold most 15" laptops. Additionally, there is a side attachment for securely storing your tripod.

The front of the backpack features small, medium, and large pockets and the main zippered compartment, which unzips all the way down providing full front access to your gear. Each side of the backpack provides a mesh slip pocket with a drawstring closure and the base has a zippered pocket, which stores a removable rain cover.

At the back behind the laptop compartment, there is a contoured breathable mesh padded panel and shoulder harness. The harness features sternum and padded hide-away waist straps for additional support as well as a trolley sleeve for attaching the backpack to your luggage. For quickly grabbing the backpack, the top features a sturdy and comfortably padded grip handle.

Good bag, fits everthing...

Just received this bag in the mail. I like it alot, it has plenty of space to accommodate my Sigma 150-600. The dividers are strong and protective. There are a couple things I would change, some being that the main compartment is slightly deep, and the waist strap can't be removed. But overall I give this bag a very positive rating.

Backpack with a lot of options

I have a lot of camera bags and this is my first full on backpack. It has a tremendous amount of storage. The backpack also has a lot of physical support to keep it firmly on your back. But sometimes I prefer not to have all that support. Rugged allows you to reduce a lot of that support by folding it up out of the way. This works out great since when you get to a point you want/need it, it's there and not at home where you left it. Even the back straps can be easily tucked (by (tightening 2 straps) close to the pack if want to carry it by the top handle.

The Ruggard Thunderhead 55 is deeper than most packs, which allows it to contain my mirrorless camera, 5 lenses (including one long telephoto lens and a telephoto zoom) and several accessories (flash, filters, lens hood). This is without filling any of the small pockets in the front. It also has a zippered pocket for a laptop in the front and pockets on the side for a tripod and water bottle. Its hip belt and shoulder straps are nicely padded, so although its center of gravity may be farther from your back than for thinner backpacks, I find walking with it fully loaded relatively comfortable.

Great backpack but could be improved upon.

I just got the backpack and loaded my camera...lenses...and other accessories and it accommodates them well ...over all i like it so far....BUT...why use plastic buckles ?...thin plastic is prone to snapping ...that is my only complaint so far.

I love this bag. I've only had it for a month but it suits all my current and future needs and this is only the 55. I'm sure all the sizes are amazing. I won't be switching bags anytime soon. I have this 5 stars because it is the max I could give, I'd definitely give more.

Big...but so is my lens

This thing is big but super light. It has to be big to fit a Nikon 200-500mm lens attached to a camera. Plus it has room for all kinds of other stuff too. I love it.

Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens is 10.24" long and the Ruggard Thunderhead 55 DSLR & Laptop Backpack is 16.5" so the fit will depend on that camera body you are using with the lens.

What are the torso lengths that this pack will fit? A very important consideration packs with waist belts!

Each belt on either side is 24" which in total when buckled will give you 48" or 4' in diameter for the belt.

My dad has this pack and a similar setup. I would say no its not going to fit. It is possible it could fit, but it would be a really snug fit and I would not feel safe with it myself.

The interrior dimension of the backpack are 16.5 x 11.5 x 6.5". The camera with the lens is 13'' tall.
