The K.2 Series K10.2 Two-Way 2000 Watt Powered Speaker from QSC features "next generation" upgrades to the popular K-Series powered speakers and is well suited for live bands, public speaking, DJ and Club applications, as well as schools, houses of worship, and event production companies. The K.2 Series features a Class-D power amplifier supplying 1800W to the 10" woofer and 225W to the 1.4" titanium compression driver, which combine to deliver a frequency response of 56 Hz to 20 kHz with a peak SPL output of 130 dB.

Notable upgrades include over twice the power of the original K-Series, which provides better performance with less distortion, as well as a more powerful DSP section with user-adjustable crossover, delay, and EQ. A high-quality LCD display provides advanced functionality and control, allowing the user to select a factory voice for specific applications, or save user presets with custom selected parameters. Additionally, the K.2 now includes Hi-Z (high impedance) inputs for passive instruments, such as electric bass guitars and acoustic/electric instruments. Other features include a dual pole-cup for improved center-of-gravity, a cloth-lined grille for a more elegant look, a 1/8" mini-jack input, three independent gain controls for each input, and a shallower monitor angle of 55°.

There are several optional accessories available for the K10.2 including the K10 Tote, K10 Outdoor Cover,
M10 Kit-C, K.2-LOC Lock Out Cover, and K10.2 Yoke. The K10.2 ships with a locking IEC power cord.

    K10.2 K.2 Series 10" 2-Way 2000 Watt Powered Speaker is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of options, but complex control interface I have a pair of first-gen QSC K10 and K12 speakers. I knew that the doubled power rating was realistically going to make only a modest difference, but I liked the idea of all the virtues of the older model with the increased power (and the power more appropriately allocated between the woofer versus tweeter in the new model) and the array of powerful new options made possible by the LCD and control interface. While all of those new features do make for slightly higher performance and more flexibility, the first time I used the new K10.2, I longed for the old speaker's fast mechanical switches, where dialing in the settings I wanted for the specific application only took five seconds. Instead, I had to crawl through multiple tiers of menu options. Having said that, the expanded feature set made possible by the new control interface is impressive. Being able to dial in delay at the speaker is pretty amazing. Consider the fact that even if you have a mixer with adjustable delay for various aux outputs, if you are daisy-chaining speakers together, having to run a direct cable connection from the mixer to the rear-most speakers is far less convenient than simply connecting to the closest set of speakers and dialing in a delay on the speaker itself. The only real missed opportunity here is that if all of this sophisticated EQ capability were going to be implemented, it would have been great if different EQ parameters could have been applied to different inputs. For example, a common use for this speaker, due to the internal mixing capability, is to skip a mixer and plug it in with a mic and an audio source (such as pre-recorded music or a presenter's computer audio output) directly connected to two separate inputs. It appears that all of the technology is present to be able to apply a vocal EQ curve (i.e., presence boost and low frequency roll-off) to the mic input while using a flat or bass boost setting for the full-range music input. Unfortunately, this is not possible, as the EQ is applied globally to final output, not to individual inputs. One other innovation that I like more than I had anticipated: the new separate pole sockets for vertical versus 7-degree downward tilt. The first-gen speakers have a clever twist collar around the pole socket to adjust the socket from vertical to downward tilting. However, as logic (and physics) would dictate, tilting downward with that design means that the weight of the speaker is tipped forward. The new design eliminates moving parts and has a separate pole socket that is farther forward on the bottom of the speaker for the downward-tilting position. That means that if using the downward tilt position, the speaker sits farther back on the pole mount, thereby balancing out the weight distribution to offset the tilt. Hopefully that makes sense, but the end result is a clever implementation that ensures a better balance, regardless of position. This is another spectacularly high quality product from QSC, but if your particular use doesn't specifically capitalize on any of the new features, you might do well to score a deal on the lower priced first-gen K10 instead.
