Does this get semi-permanently attached to the lense or can you easily switch between lenses?
This can be removed relatively easily. When you mount it to a lens it fits very firmly so though it is a bit more difficult to remove once "installed," it can still be removed.

Yes the Vello Pentax K Lens to Canon EF-S-Mount Camera Lens Adapter is compatible with the Canon SL1 camera. Although the lens will fit physically, autofocus, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), and other functions dependent on communication between camera body and lens will be disrupted by the lens adapter. You will need to focus manually, and to set exposures manually or meter in aperture priority (stop-down) mode. Focusing to infinity is retained.
